May 25, 2008 15:12

here we go...

lots of stuff to report, starting with:

james mcavoy gets mean
additional sexy here.

check out empire magazine's exclusive wanted featurette.

the russians are getting a harder core version of the film and exclusives with it since the director is russian, the same guy who did the nightwatch movies.

lots of casting/upcoming movie news

literary adaptations news

sienna miller is replacing natalie portman as catherine earnshaw in an upcoming production of wuthering heights, based on the bronte novel. downgrade much?

the success of the recent all african-american version of tennessee williams' "cat on a hot tin roof" has prompted producer stephen byrd to take the play to the screen again, though i'm not sure he can outdo a film that featured both elizabeth taylor and paul newman when they were at the top of their game. good luck, though.

prince fucking caspian is set to play the title role in an upcoming adapation of oscar wilde's "the picture of dorian gray". this is BULLSHIT. he's not that great an actor and they are going to fuck with one of my all-time favorite books.

my favorite shakespeare play will now be ruined by keira knightly, who is set to play cordelia in an upcoming adapatation of king lear that will feature anthony hopkins in the title role (which means we will have to endure naked hannibal) and gwenyth paltrow as goneril.

morpheus is set to star, direct, and produce an adaptation of paulo cohelo's bestseller "the alchemist". i'll have to think about that image as i begin the novel next week with my students.

jake gyllenhaal is the new prince of persia. while he's not royalty, he's now slated for the lead in the film version of the popular video game the prince of persia: the sands of time. and while i am down for any role in which gyllenhaal is shirtless and swinging a sword around, he's the last actor i'd think of for the role, and oh yeah, HE'S NOT EVEN A BIT PERSIAN.

simon pegg and nick frost are back to work on a new film. this one's called "paul" and is a road movie.

new wall*e posters

sark brings some much needed sexy to "into the blue 2", with chris 'welcome to the oc, bitch!' carmack, and the dead eyes one from the hills.

here's the brutal new red band trailer for m night shyamalan's the happening.
and if you are disappointed after that, prepare yourself for the EPIC TWIST the movie has in store, which is argeably more lame than the endings to most of m night's other movies.

speaking of spoilers, here's what happens in indy 4, for those of you that didn't see it this weekend. this ending is the reason why i do not want to see this movie, even if it's already made more than $100 million.

though speed racer flopped harder than a fatty in a public pool, tons of other anime bastardizations are in store, including:

akira w/leo dicaprio
robotech w/tobey maguire
battle angel alita dir by james cameron
GHOST IN THE FUCKING SHELL (as a live action 3d movie) dir by stephen failberg.

i'm offended.

and unbeknownst to me or anyone else the death note film was released in the states, but only for a few days.

marvel's pipeline for upcoming films includes: iron man 2 and thor in 2010, captain america in 2011, and the avengers, a HUGE HUGE film that will include everyone from iron man, incredible hulk, captain america, and thor in summer 2011. the runaways is also in development.

in better, slightly less insulting news christian bale is not starring in one, but in an entire new trilogy of terminator movies. i only have faith in these beacuse bale is brilliant. some concept art from the film.

the curious case of benjamin button. starring brad pitt and cate blanchett, directed by david fincher. (in spanish - but you'll get the jist of it)

how to lose friends and alienate people. starring simon pegg and kirsten snaggletooth.

australia. starring nicole kidman and hugh jackman, directed by baz luhrmann.

and lastly...

watch a clip from clint eastwood's new film "the changling", starring angelina jolie. based on the description it sounds a lot like the nicole kidman film "birth".

drama and fuckery continue to plague spike jonze's production of "where the wild things are".

katherine zeta jones makes out with justin bartha, at least in their new romantic comedy. these are both very pretty people. i might just see this.

enjoy.
