This has been a crazy week. It started with the weekend with the 72 hour push for the President. I ran into some wild ones. Then add all of the excitement and worry ... it equals for some hair pulling time. Tuesday I voted, came home and waited for the games to begin. I live for that stuff, and fortunately for us Bush supporters the President won. I would be lying if I said I wasn't happy this election is over.

The wednesday following the election (yesterday) was fairly crazy too. I took a lot of heat with the Bush victory (which was really no surprise) and witnessed a lot of bitterness. This is what I'm so shocked by because I actually didn't think it would fall on the level that it has. I figured you would get some of the idiots making moving to Canada comments and name calling, but when Professors took part in this too, I admit I was not prepared for that. I understand the passion and emotion that fell into this election, but I mean come on ... when you're an adult and throwing a hissy fit because your guy lost ... that's something you see from a 12 year old at his birthday party.

Although there was that sort of negative, ignorant reaction ... I was impressed by others. It started with the Senator John Kerry. I agreed with little to nothing that came out of that man's mouth, and yes I do still believe he would do or say almost anything to get some sort of political gain ... but Wednesday I adopted a new found respect for the man. Instead of playing the baby card like the majority of his supporters are, he took the defeat ... and called his supporters to make their way to the middle to reunite this nation during a time of war. He could have fought and had a long drawn out fight with Ohio that would of ended up with the same outcome ... but he didn't because he knew that would only divide this nation more than it is ... and now is the time for healing and reuniting ... not more division. So I tip my hat to the senator, and hope his supporters answer his call.

There was also another positive reaction I got from a Kerry supporter. I won't mention a name, but I'm sure they know who they are. This individual was a vocal anti-bush, Kerry supporter. I'm not sure I know many people that couldn't stand the President more than this person. After the election they came to me ... their first word was "congratulations". They later went on to revel the real American attitude, an attitude that was free of a party or view. They mentioned they were optimistic about the future. Although this wasn't their choice for President ... they think a positive attitude is best for this country in it's attempt to find it's way together again, than being negative and aiding in it's division. Instead of remarks about wanting to move to Canada, or some sort of negative comment about where this country is headed now, this person reached out their hand and asked to meet me in the middle. That's America people ... that is what is going to heal this country, that is the real strength in this nation. That is why I am also optimistic, because I know not everyone who didn't support the President is anger sticken and set it's agenda for division. Because I know that there are people ready to meet me and others in the middle ... because America is at it's best in the middle.

    Cheap shot of the day:
  • "Americans are Ignorant", "I would rather live in Canada". So to you people ... no one is forcing you to stay here, if you think you will find happiness in another region of the world, go for it ... I just hope you don't have trouble getting back in when you realized your mistake.
That is the cheap shot of the day.
