MICHELLEThis is just, like, I am trying to find words that don't make me sound like a giant loser but this is just, utterly brilliant. I have this whole like, list of shit I want to quote at you but it seems pretty redundant because it is SO MUCH OF THIS FIC OH MY GOD. But honestly this is something else. the RPF 'verse that we all co-inhabit is one thing but this is another level shit, in all seriousness. I adore the scope of this I think more than anything else. The fact that it spans a decade, that it spans all these changes but that this central thing, this pull doesn't change just gets to me. And the way you've written it, all from Kristen's POV like, idk it's just stunning. There's this actual ache to it, the whole way through that sort of crests and ebbs as they come together and move away. I love that it's felt inevitable but that it actually takes as long as it does for them to get to their various stages. And just that running theme of her almost wanting him more but he's always been more obvious and open about it. That this ( ... )

Ahhhh, Izi! This entire comment fills my heart with joy! Thank you so much, girl! Clearly, this fic got away from me (OVER 30K WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME), but wow, I had a legit blast writing all of this and I am so glad to hear you enjoyed reading it! I also think writing this has officially tipped me over into full on OTP-ing these clowns lol ( ... )

Like for real Michelle this is absolutely brilliant, no word of a lie - it's just got such a great balance of humour and emotion without being like trite if that makes sense? THE BEACH HOUSE IS THE GREATEST IDEA and just the way you described that scene with the wine bottle, I could totally imagine it and just, why is that not a real thing? ALSO THE FBI/REPORTER: INTO IT.

(Omg FWK totally needs the makeover treatment to make it NOT THE WORST. So glad I stopped after like 12 minutes, best decision I've made this year tbh. But yesssss the SNL cast pairing off. Like, Bill and Kristen would be friends with benefits for about forever in this crazy on off thing who get like drunk married in Atlantic City or something stupidly cliché, Seth and Amy totally got married and settled, Maya and JSuds got hitched but can't have kids or something - I NEED TO STOP TYPING.)

Ugh, you make my heart feel full! hahah THANK YOU. And omg the beach house hahaha. There are so many scenes I have plotted out! Like one where Kristen decides she's going to make a liquor store run one morning and Bill insists on going with her and she's like NO, I CAN DO IT MYSELF, NO BIG DEAL, and he's like " . . . do you not know us we are going to need a flotilla of booze," so they drive in silence to the liquor store with obnoxious Christmas music playing on the car radio and the windows are down and that warm beach breeze and when they finally get to the liquor store they get into a fight in the big walk-in beer fridge about which beer to buy which totally dovetails into a bigger argument about the both of them and they're, like, whisper yelling at each other and talking over each other and wind up spending a gross amount on alcohol and when they get back to the beach house and they're unloading the car, someone (who I can't help but picture as Maya hahaha) is like, "whoa, why ( ... )

Shit, that FWK re-dub needs to happen. For, like, my sanity.

I now want this with a violence and passion that borderline frightens me.

Okay, how does it work? Like, SNL alum filming the film and Bill and Kristen dealing with the fact of playing friends with benefits or in-universe FWK starring everybody's favourite SNL cast members?

Also, a SNL RPF fic-a-thon needs to happen like yesterday.

omggggg I'm kinda really into the in-universe idea? Like, AU it up and make them all college friends or something? IDK, BOTH IDEAS HAVE A TON OF MERIT HAHA.

But wow, kinda reeling from the idea of them getting accidentally married hahahaha.

And HAHAHA OMG, it would be like you and me prompting the same shit and maybe one fill thrown in there.

I prefer in-universe too. UGH, COLLEGE FRIENDS WITH MAYBE A BACKGROUND IN IMPROV? I don't know, I love the comedian/enne lifestyle edge to this verse.

Ugh, for real! But let's have them, like, not? Have a baby? Or maybe he has a baby with somebody else in the meantime but he doesn't love her, so they raise it amicably, and like partners, except his one and only is still Kristen, and she's kind of like, "well, I don't really want kids, so..." But damn. Do I want this.

Hahaha, maybe. Okay, yes. But people seem to like this fic, maybe a fic-a-thon will bring out everybody's secret SNL desires.

THAT CAN BE HOW THEY ALL MET, SOME IMPROV THING ON CAMPUS. And Amy headed it up and they all became friends via that group but went on to do different things after, but maybe all still sort of centered around that lifestyle? Like Maya's a Broadway performer and Kristen is a writer for a show that airs at Rockefeller Center and Bill works in the newsroom at MSNBC, etc., etc ( ... )

THAT IS A THING YOU NEED TO WRITE LIKE, NOW MICHELLE. I AM GOING TO PROMPT YOU THAT SHIT TIL THE END OF TIME but honestly that is like, everything that is good and wonderful.

Gillian can totally be Kristen's cousin or something and she always sorts of pops up when everyone least wants her around? And Bateman could be Kristen's ex who always sort of stuck around despite the fact that nobody likes him? (And maybe he and Gillian could bang? #priorities) But also I am crying at the spiral you and Jordan had below: RELUCTANT STEPMOTHERING oh my god. Like I was just in it for them having like a big drunk wedding and like neither of them annulling it beacuse it's just a piece of paper right? But the fact that Bill ends up having a kid with someone else sort of massively makes them think about the fact that they are technically married and makes shit complicated and whatever so they have to deal with what that means - and maybe they have to move in together for some sort of custody shit idk, I've had whisky this sounds legit.

Oh my goddddd, Izi, I may or may not have accidentally started fleshing this whole thing out? And merged the FWK and beach house idea into one big ol' mess ( ... )

EVERYTHING IS THE GREATEST OH MY GOD, I LOVE THAT YOU'VE COMBINED THEM and just, ACH SETH STILL PINING so probably extramarital affairs x at least 2 excellent. MAYA AND JASON STOP you see I am a terrible person who really enjoys stories about couples who want but can't have kids so that is like, golden. ALL THE KRISTEN BILL STUFF IS GR89 AND I AM SO EXCITED TO SEE THAT ALL UNRAVEL AND ALSO CRYING THIS IS THE GIFT THAT KEEPS ON GIVING.

I love all the supporting cast - omg Busy how have we not incorporated her yet I honestly don't know but obvs Jason because he's part and parcel with Seth. Also I love the Bateman stuff because that is pretty much what I was thinking only more articulated. And Gillian could totally be her cousin, that's completely viable OF COURSE ROSE AND MMMGOODE I LOVE IT. Also maybe John Cho could be Kristen's only good boyfriend who like, everyone loved (except for Bill for reasons) but she was always dissatisfied with? Or he could be her ~real life~ Jon Hamm in Bridesmaids type?

Reply

falseeeyelashes March 18 2012, 23:32:12 UTC
I FORGOT ALL ABOUT JON HAMM! He can totally be Rose's husband who always hits on Kristen, so whenever Kristen is supposed to do dinner with Rose and Jon, she drags Bill with her, and he always begrudgingly goes because a) doesn't trust Hamm and b) because he's Bill lol.

But oh mannnnnnnnn, I wish I could snap my fingers and this would be already made and real ahahha. I also just realized we have three Jasons (three!) in this story and I am dying of laughter lol. I feel like Busy is the crazy friend they all keep around bc she provides levity and shots, seeing as she is a bartender. And Gillllllllllian, yes! I feel like Gillian could be the element introduced that really screws with the whole group dynamic? She's younger than them? Suds is into her in a way he has no right being into her? AND YES! CHO WAS WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE SUCCESS STORY! And they somehow have stayed friends after?

YESSSSS that actually all slots into place so well.

If only that was the way it worked - I'd then be shot of my fucking Jane/Reg OPUS ugh. Oh god three Jasons that does not bode well but also crying just a bit. YES Busy's also like, resident advice giver alongside Maya. GILLIAN IS THE GAME CHANGER she is the thing that unsettles everything omg, because she could totally move to New York and take the receptionist or whatever job at GE and that just starts to throw everything off. They stayed friends because secretly it wasn't working for him either so they called it quits even though everyone else was disappointed and just became like good casual friends instead? She probably set him up with his current/most recent girlfriend or what have you because he's that dude

OMG YOUR JANE/REG OPUS ;______; don't you dare think I have forgotten about that!!!

And ahahaha Busy, the advice giver! It's sort of like Maya's the angel on your shoulder and Busy's the devil and you go to whichever one based on the sort of advice you want to receive (aka, "think about the consequences . . ." vs. "oh my god do it do it do it"). AND YES! GILLIAN THE RECEPTIONIST! And the worst part is, Suds got her the job bc Kristen asked him to help her out and that makes things SO AWKWARD in the future. And bc of Gillian (but not really, she's just the catalyst) all these fissures in this group of friends start becoming WAY MORE APPARENT.

And yesssssssss. She totally set him up! Tho idk with who! But she totally dated Cho during that one year Bill was married to someone else; like, he was a rebound (even tho she never really was with Bill, but whatever) that grew into something else and everyone was rooting for her to stay with him, but, eh, didn't work, ahaha.
