I watched Wes amusdely as he began to run his hand through his hair, only to stop, looking vaguely disgusted half way through. Then, I grew slightly concerned as he began to shiver.
"Hey," I said, starting to shrug my jacket off. Awkwardly, I held it out to him, waiting for him to take it. It wasn't much, but maybe it could keep him from getting so cold from this water that he got sick.
Cordelia would never forgive me if Wesley got sick from rolling around in the sewers, when we hadn't waited for them to get home.
But at least we had killed the demon, right? We hadn't managed to stop it before it had killed another woman, which wasn't a good thing, but... at least it wouldn't be killing anymore women.
Think of the sacred coat and you get it offered to you. I blinked at it, looked up at Angel and blinked again. Well, I suppose I'll just have to hold on to the hem of his...shirt...sweater? Then
( ... )
I smiled slightl when Wesley put my coat on; he looked even thinner than he did usually, and that was saying something. I knew that I paid them all enough to keep them fed, but...
As Wesley reached toward me, still slightly confused, I briefly guided his hand so he could find my sweater. Then, when he had a grip, I started forward, heading for the hotel. We got a few feet down the... sewer, and I suddenly chuckled quietly.
"So, how much of this do you think Cordelia needs to hear about?" I asked Wesley. I wondered if she needed to hear about the rolling in the murky water part or the goo on the cieling part, or if we could just say we had found it and killed it. I really didn't want to hear about how I couldn't even be out of my room for an hour without making a mess...
"Cordelia will take on look at us and then forget about any and all details. Order us upstairs to take showers, and use lots of soap. Burn our clothes, so you may want to hide your coat. And then she will corner me a few days later and ask for the bloody details."
That's how Cordelia Chase worked. Though, I have to wonder why she always cornered me when something like this happened. And not Gunn, or Angel. I'm not giving her anymore details then they do! Bloody hell. She just liked to do it to annoy me, I'm sure of it.
"Is it far?" I asked, shivering a bit harder by now. Where the hell did that draft come from? It's probably because I'm soaking wet, but I've never noticed it before. Sighing, I tightened my grip on Angel's sweater and the moment I did that, I tripped over something..again. I stumbled forward and grabbed on to the first thing I could reach. Which as of course...Angel.
"Well, that's assuming she's back yet," I said, a smile in my voice. "I mean, she's shopping, right? She might not be back yet..." Although with our luck so far today, I wouldn't place any bets on that fact.
After all, Cordelia had matured lately, and was big with making sure everyone was okay... today, though, it would just push too far. After all, I had only just come out of my room. I really didn't want to deal with Cordelia being overly caring while making a big deal out of the fact that I was out of my room...
"I'ts not too much farther," I said, turning around to look at Wes. I turned around, just in time to catch Wesley as he lunged forward. I stumbled back a step, until I regained my balance, holding Wesley in my arms.
"So, um, you okay?" I asked, frozen for the moment.
Quickly straightening myself, I cleared my throat. "Yes, yes I'm fine. Thank you." Nice going, Pryce. Make a bloody fool out of yourself again why don't you? And I knew I was blushing. Bloody marvelous that. I just hope... Oh who am I kidding. Of course Angel can see that.
"Just...fine. Shall we move on again?" I took hold of his sweater again and waited for him to start walking. This time I took my steps a little more carefully. I could hear the faint sounds of rats scattering about. They made me nervous. I don't like rats, not since I've been a child. There'd been some in that closet. And not being able to see anything makes me nervous as well.
Swallowing down on those feelings, I kept carefully close to Angel as we walked back to the hotel. I could only hope Cordelia and Gunn weren't back yet. But since Gunn was with Cordy, they might just be home a little sooner then if Cordy was on her own. Wonderful, then they can both make cracks about this. I nearly bumped into Angel when he suddenly stopped. "We're here?" I asked hopefully
I waited until Wesley straightened himself again before setting off, and listened to his nervous, embarrassed apologies, and I said quietly, "It's fine, Wes. Not everyone can see in the dark, right?"
Further down the tunnel, I stopped, forgetting again to let Wesley know ahead of time when I was going to stop. He didn't run into me, however, and I looked up, tilting my head slightly.
"Yeah, we're here," I said after a moment. "It doesn't sound like anyone's up there." I began to climb up the ladder, and pushed open the door at the top, climbing in quietly. At the top, I turned on the lights in the basement so Wesley could see easier, and waited for him to come up.
Listening further, I sighed in relief when I heard the silence in the hotel. No one else was here... well, except Fred, but that was a given. We were home free... no one would have to see what a mess we had made of ourselves... which was a good thing.
"So, this was a good way to work my way back into things, wasn't it?" I asked Wesley with a hint of a smile.
Lord, I hope no one is up there. But since Angel was the one with the special hearing and I couldn't even see well enough to guide a mouse, I had to take his word for it. And usually his word was quite accurate. Now lets hope Cordelia and Gunn knew that as well
( ... )
"Yeah," I said quietly, shutting the access panel to the sewers behind Wesley. When I stood up, I added, "But then, aren't they usually confused? I mean, with the amount of demons in the city, they must never have time to wonder why one string stops before another starts..."
I glanced up the stairs again, double checking to make sure that no one was up there. Even if they weren't talking, I would have been able to hear the heart beats of anyone up there.
"Let's go get those showers," I said after another minute. Wesley was still shivering, and he didn't look too good. Meanwhile, though, I just wanted to get this sewer gunk off of me before it dried solid or something. From past experience, I knew it was even less pleasant to wash dried sewer water and sludge off later on; better to get it done as soon as possible. And better for the health of the humans, too.
Humor, is a concept that is quite lost on Angel. I'd forgotten that. Too busy keeping the business afloat no doubt, and of course I had not interacted with him quite as frequently after his went into his self appointed brooding exile. I decided to let the matter drop. By the time I'd finally explained that I'd been making a joke, all this slime would've been completely dried up and I'd be flayed alive trying to get it off
( ... )
I followed Wesley up the stairs, only to take my turn in almost running into him when he suddenly stopped in the lobby. Startled, I looked up, and froze when I caught sight of Cordelia and Gunn
( ... )
Wait, what? They had found the nest? And why was I not informed of this? "If you found the nest, why didn't you call us?" That was just to ridiculous for words! There we were, trudging through the smelling sewers and they had already found the bloody next?! "Remind me again why I'm the boss
( ... )
I rolled my eyes at Cordelia, even as I watched Wesley storm up the steps. I didn't know what was going on, save that Wes was pissed because no one had told him what was going on...
Gunn shrugged as I looked at him, and said, "We were gonna tell you when we got back here. Let's see him try haulin' Cordy away from a shoe sale." I smirked slightly as Cordelia overheard that, and whapped Gunn upside the head
( ... )
All this messing about in the sewers and then talking to Cordelia and Gunn hadn't done the slime any good. It was getting hard. Hell, it was already hard on some places. In fact, I could feel it burning somewhat on my skin. Not to mention that parts of said skin came loose as I pull my clothes off
( ... )
I watched from the railing over head for a few minutes as Cordelia and Gunn sniped at one another, even as Cordelia started turning on the computer, probably for some research.
Or the next big sale... with her, you never knew.
A moment later, I watched Wesley slip down the stairs, eyeing the pair. He paused for a moment, looking uncertain about something, and I realized I should probably also go down. If there was nest the other had found, it might mean more demons... or babies that were growing up, which would leave us worse off than we were before.
"Oh, there you are... thought maybe you'd actually drowned yourselves," Cordelia said as I appeared, stepping around Wesley to enter the lobby. "And, since you're a vampire," she said, lazily waving a hand at me, "That'd be an accomplishment." I rolled my eyes at her, coming across the lobby to lean against the desk.
"So, this nest you found," I prodded after a moment, looking at Gunn. "You going to tell about it?"
"Not much to tell," Gunn said, reading the comics section of the

Inwardly I groaned as they blathered on about 'rocks. Good god, after all this time, I could not *believe* they were this stupid. Eggs! How could the not have thought of the possibility that those were eggs?! Surely neither Gunn nor Cordelia was that stupid were they? Why do I have to think of everything myself?
I was cold, I was not feeling well, and I wanted to go home and lay in bed for at least a decade. But not, we still had a job to do. Why hadn't they called us for gods sake? I don't understand. I'd checked my cell phone while in my room, and it had worked just fine. So I didn't understand why they hadn't called. Nor did I understand the sudden lack of intelligence.
Sighing, I glared at the pair of them, and almost at Angel for good measure. But I managed to curb that urge, since this wasn't his fault. "Fine," I muttered. "Looks like we still have more to do. Let's grab some weapons. Bring the flame thrower and get over to where this nest was."

What does it take to get some rest around here?
