All this messing about in the sewers and then talking to Cordelia and Gunn hadn't done the slime any good. It was getting hard. Hell, it was already hard on some places. In fact, I could feel it burning somewhat on my skin. Not to mention that parts of said skin came loose as I pull my clothes off.

I tried the delicate and slow approach, but that didn't really work. Instead I went with the 'let's get it the hell over with' approach. Which... Didn't really agree with my skin. I could feel the sewer dirt seeping in scrapes and cuts. Wonderful.

Sighing, I turned on the shower, dismayed to see it was only giving me luke warm water. Well, it was better then nothing I supposed. If I'd waited to go home, lord only knows how much skin I'd have lost then. I stayed under the shower, scrubbing myself raw until I was shivering. Damn, I'd have loved to take a hot shower. Maybe home.

Finally done, I got out from under the shower and got out the spare set of clothes I left here at the hotel. My other set was once again lost. If this kept up I'd be due for new clothes again. Which I couldn't really afford. Sighing, I got dress, still shivering and...cold.

Then I walked down the stairs, not feeling very well and tired. I think I'll just go home and go to bed early. The demon had been taken care of and as far as I remember there wasn't anything of urgency to handle. I hovered a bit at the end of the stairs. I suppose I should tell Gunn and Cordy that I was leaving, but I really didn't feel like being on the receiving end of their jokes again.

I watched from the railing over head for a few minutes as Cordelia and Gunn sniped at one another, even as Cordelia started turning on the computer, probably for some research.

Or the next big sale... with her, you never knew.

A moment later, I watched Wesley slip down the stairs, eyeing the pair. He paused for a moment, looking uncertain about something, and I realized I should probably also go down. If there was nest the other had found, it might mean more demons... or babies that were growing up, which would leave us worse off than we were before.

"Oh, there you are... thought maybe you'd actually drowned yourselves," Cordelia said as I appeared, stepping around Wesley to enter the lobby. "And, since you're a vampire," she said, lazily waving a hand at me, "That'd be an accomplishment." I rolled my eyes at her, coming across the lobby to lean against the desk.

"So, this nest you found," I prodded after a moment, looking at Gunn. "You going to tell about it?"

"Not much to tell," Gunn said, reading the comics section of the paper. He looked up at me as he explained, "Empty. Big demon left home, you guys killed it. Leftbehind a pretty big collection of real round rocks, though. Musta liked them or somethin'."

I paused, looking at Gunn to see if he was serious. Round rocks? "Were they... I dunno, egg shaped?" I asked him, suddenly concerned. If that demon had laid eggs or anything... we were in trouble. We had had trouble killing the adult one; I hated to think about having to deal with a lot of baby demons.

"Eggs?" Cordelia asked, suddenly looking disgusted. "You made me touch eggs?" She asked Gunn angrily. "Geez, that's the last time I help you investigate something..." She stood up abruptly, rushing off to wash her hands. I smirked slightly, then looked at Gunn.

Looked like we weren't done yet...

Inwardly I groaned as they blathered on about 'rocks. Good god, after all this time, I could not *believe* they were this stupid. Eggs! How could the not have thought of the possibility that those were eggs?! Surely neither Gunn nor Cordelia was that stupid were they? Why do I have to think of everything myself?

I was cold, I was not feeling well, and I wanted to go home and lay in bed for at least a decade. But not, we still had a job to do. Why hadn't they called us for gods sake? I don't understand. I'd checked my cell phone while in my room, and it had worked just fine. So I didn't understand why they hadn't called. Nor did I understand the sudden lack of intelligence.

Sighing, I glared at the pair of them, and almost at Angel for good measure. But I managed to curb that urge, since this wasn't his fault. "Fine," I muttered. "Looks like we still have more to do. Let's grab some weapons. Bring the flame thrower and get over to where this nest was."

What does it take to get some rest around here?

As Cordy and Gunn glared at each other, I watched Wesley move back over to the weapons cabinet.

"Hey, they sounded like rocks when I dropped one!" Cordelia was saying indignantly, and I sighed. At least we didn't have to worry about Mommy Demon coming back, and finding the babies all destroyed...

I followed Wesley over to the weapons cabinet, and paused behind him as he sighed. His shoulders were slightly slumped, and I moved forward.

"You sure you want to be going? You look tired..." I said, not wanting to push things. He looked irritated at the other two, and I didn't blame him. On the other hand, he had looked tired to begin with, and out romp in the sewers didn't help any.

"Oh, get over it," Cordelia finally snapped, and I looked over at the counter. "I didn't know; like you've never made a mistake, Gunn?"

"Hey, at least I didn't scramble some demon eggs," he snorted. He went to the front door, and said, "I'll pull the car 'round front. Let's get this done." I nodded; it was starting to get dark, and in about an hour the sun would go down enough to let me be able to function. And with the traffic, at least I would have that much time at least to get there, from the sounds of it.

"You don't have to come," I offered to Wes again, wondering what it was exactly that was making me see just how cold and shivering he was. Glancing at Cordy, I added in a whisper, "You might not want to let her see you shivering, though, whatever you decide. She'll kill me first, then confine you to bed..." I smiled slightly, before turning away.
