Now Presenting: Herb And Hathor's Titans In Labor Paramount Thrush! (not coming soon)

Today we come upon More Herbs, Less Salt Day and the Egyptian Birthday Of Het-Hert [Hathor]!

Pre-historical a li'l somethin' for Elle): Fossils uncovered in Rio de Janeiro lead to discovery of the Maxakalisaurus topai, a 13 meter long, 9 ton Titanosaur from the Late Cretaceous that is believed closely related to the Saltasaurinae. We're always learning and finding more out every year!

As Labor Day is approaching, gov'mt data shows productivity is up in the U.S. while wages remain steady despite inflation - meaning we're earning less for working harder. Work hours have also gone up, with many working 12-15 hour days with little compensation, and many workers too intimidated from the tight market to ask for a raise. Many employers are giving out titles rather than raises to their employees to go with new duties.
The details:
*Median family income rose 1.6 percent from 2001 to 2004, while productivity rose 11.7 percent.
*Real hourly wages -- adjusted for inflation -- dropped almost 1 percent for the bottom half of workers between 2003 and 2005, but rose about 1 percent for the top 5 percent.
*Real annual earnings for college graduates dropped 5.2 percent between 2000 and 2004; high school graduates, on the other hand, saw a real gain of 1.6 percent.
Some states are raising their own minimum wages, only slightly, to try and keep up with rising costs of living and keep unemployment rates down. (Personally, I'd just like to add that if we crack down on illegal immigration even harder than we currently are, it should open up employment and reduce unemployment substantially nationwide!)

Paramount Chairman commented to Newsweek, after his boss dropped Cruise, "He certainly didn't ask my permission [... h]e built the place." Paramount is Hollywood's oldest studio, since 1913 - ten years before his boss was born.

My darlin' Jae's voice has been mainly a squeak for the past two days *smiles*, it's so cute to see her try to cry out or yell and her expression when she can't! The doctor visit yesterday led to her taking drugs for a mild case of thrush, which hasn't bothered her in the least and is nothing serious to worry about - so stop your worrying right now, she's fine.
