What makes for a perfect song? Music is interesting in that you can apply it to your life so maybe it is that application that makes for a perfect one. Taking that as truth you could say that everyone's perception of a perfect song is different. It only has to mean something to them, something important, something they think about more than once a day. It doesn't really have anything to do with how well the song is written, only with the experience you got from listening to it, a shiver down the spine, a moment of clarity, a moment of utter dismay. I would like to emphasize that because perfection has no relation to happiness, something perfect simply fits for a given time or situation. Sometimes when i find a song i just can't play it loud enough, no matter what i play it on, the speakers blow before i have a chance to fully enjoy it. But in raising the volume i'm trying to do something that may be obvious to you. I'm trying to drown the rest of the world until it disappears, deep enough to not bother me. It's because the song is perfect and anything perfect should never be interrupted, not for anything. But that's hard to say because music isn't the only thing that can be perfect. A moment can be. That's a very general statement and i'll try to clarify it in the way that i meant it. Anytime something happens that stops you from walking, stops you from breathing even. Something important enough for you to lose track of whatever you were doing before and pay full attention, barring of course acts of lunacy that people just seem to find themselves in. I experienced a few moments like that in rapid succession today and it was a little much for me to handle. I never thought a crow flying next to me would be jarring enough for me to pay attention, but today it was. He was alone, and silent, and hungry, and wanting. Application was easy and it took me back, made me stop walking and think. I don't know what i'm doing here, other than looking for perfect songs. I'm just a passenger messing with the radio. I don't really know if i want to be something more than that though. I don't know if i want to be the one making perfect songs, or showing them to other people, although having someone to explain their perfection to would be interesting.
