All I see is Lucifer, and all I feel is a searing pain in my chest. How did we get so disparate? How did we get to be such different people? I remember the time when we were so close that the idea of communication was to slow, all we needed was thought.
Lucifer, why?
Because, Gabriel, if you're not with me, you're against me. You just tried to slaughter me.
You know I wouldn't have been able to go through with it, brother.
“I know, Gabriel, I know...your hesitation is why you will die.” Why you must die. The look in his eyes was almost what I remembered, but there was something cold and dark standing between my brother and I. Something unspeakable and something not fixable. My brother, my favorite brother, was lost to me now.
Part of me that wasn't lost in white-hot Grace fire would miss him, the other part wished that I'd just killed him instead of hesitating. Instead of trying to talk to him, as if he was still the brother that I'd lost so long ago.
I should have known better.
Turns out it was the death of me.
