I should be insanely excited about this California trip coming up in just 2 weeks. I mean, its california for christ sake. 9 days in california and seattle, what east coaster wouldnt want to go see those sites, afterall i might not ever be back.
I guess im about to sound really selfish here, since im not paying for this trip and im going with my family.. But here it is anyways.
For starters, im missing a few big things aislinn has coming up that she wanted me to attend.. like her graduation. I feel rather terrible for having to miss that, among other things.
So Im about to release information that probably shouldnt be talked about, but thats okay because not many people that have a clue what im reffering to actually read this journal of mine to begin with.
Years ago I remember as a kid who didnt know much about coasters, except for how amazing it was to go upside down and really fast. I remember joining my very first forum and enthusiast group wanting to know more about these machines. As i got to know how many really exsisted, i wanted to be a world renouned traveler, and experience every coaster possible.
Ive had my trips back and forth across the country, but than i found my true infatuation in Six Flags Great Adventure. I remember hearing about medusa and nitro opening, and i wanted to get to the park as soon as possible so i could be one of the first to ride them. I wanted to know the people who made them work, i wanted to be a VIP, to not have to wait in line.
And than came the Great Adventure fan sites i found and joined up, along with ECC and the friends i made. Each year we got a little more known. We were there opening day of superman. And opening day of the park next year. Still a part of the General Public though.
Than, it finally came. Through ACE and a few other friends I got to ride Kingda Ka days before it opened to the public as part of the commercial shoot, and what a great day that was. But it wasnt enough. This year When i heard about the new wooden coaster, i wanted to see it being constructed, i wanted to meet the people behind it.
I did. I got to go on a few tours of the grounds, opening day of the park i got to met Al Rubano and Ron the general manager of the park, along with Kristen and Angel the PR girls, and it was awesome. I finally declared myself out of the GP, and into the true enthusiast realm. Than it came. I got the invitation to be part of the media day event, and to get nearly VIP treatment by getting invited by PR to ride before the rest of the world.
Im going to miss that day, by about 4 hours because ill be on my way to california while its going on. This also seems like one of the last coasters the park will put up for a good amount of time becuse of management change.
Yeah, it really sucks. And i know that its justified with the california trip, but i feel like im missing things back at home that ill never be able to experience again. Seeing my girlfriend graduate, experiencing the media day, and a few other things. I dont know, just for all im missing, i hope i have an awesome time while im there.
