With or without

Mom 2 told me something today. As always, it sounded like nothing unusual, just something you might hear in casual conversation. But of course with Mom 2, it's never quite that simple. The more I thought about it, the more I realized how true it was. What did she tell me, you wonder:

When you want something in life, you have to give up something else to get it

Looking at my life through the lens of that statement, I see just how true it really is. I'm currently at one of the fastest rising stars in the law school universe where I get to rub elbows with TV stars, U.S. attorney generals, federal judges, and presidential hopefuls. I'm at a city on a hill, a shining beacon of academia and truth, and it fits me, it really really does.

And, as I look at where I'm at, I reflect on what I gave up to get here. What have is great, but so was what I had. Without going into specifics, because why would it matter, I wonder if I made a good deal coming here. Did I lose out on something that would be worth more to me than what I'm gaining here?

Deep thoughts, more on that as they develop.

Sidenote: For the record, I'm incredibily happy with Regent and I'm staying here, this isn't a should I stay or should I go post. That is all.
