Let's see, since I last update I:
-went to the Bronx Zoo. It was awesome. Definitely one of the best days of the summer and I don't even care
-went to P.S 1. It wasn't for me. I usually like about half of what a contemporary art museum has to offer, but I thought pretty much everything they had was pretentious bullshit.
-went to Brighton Beach and had a damn near perfect day. It was 80 degrees, sunny, there were barely any waves so I could actually swim, there was a little breach so I could lay out on the sand and read without feeling like I was dying. And I found out that's where all the Russians live. Everyone assumed I could speak the language and I just kept wanting to say "listen, the only two words I know, aleksander petrofsky taught me."
-saw Julie and Julia this morning. I LOVED IT.
-have decided that, if I get in, I'm going on Birthright in January. Which is a completely free trip to Israel if you're at all Jewish (just need at least one parent to be jewy, and doesn't even have to be the mom) and between 18 and 26. I had always though it was this religious pilgrimage but there are all sorts of different kinds of most of them are secular and a lot more about the culture and cover all the usual bases of a vacation: historically important sights, exploring cities, going to museums, swimming, shopping, clubbing, hiking, camping. It looks freakin sweet. Registration is in September and is first come first serve, so hopefully I'll make it. But I'm really excited.
Tomorrow I'm packing. I'm so tired of packing and unpacking. I really want to know what it feels like to not have to uproot your life every three months. Then on Monday, no one I've known in the city is around anymore or will be away and my dad's still in recovery so I have to move out of my 6th floor apartment entirely by myself. NOT looking forward to it.
Then I'll be home for exactly three weeks before moving to Boston!
