Summary: Helenus gets a warning from Cassandra

Cassandra knew he wouldn't listen to her. She knew it! She had had a vision and he hadn't believed her. Empty promises were made just to placate her. Next time Helenus tried that she was going to tie him down to a chair and not let him out of the house until any chance of him being hurt were gone. She couldn't lose her twin again.

Once she got to the hospital room, she entered quietly, despite her anger. Cassandra didn't want to wake him up if he was asleep and recovering.

Helenus had honestly intended to not do anything dramatic at work that night. But then the visions kicked in with such a force that he couldn't ignore the emotion that rose inside of him. Before he could even think, he had run inside of the building to save the child.

Though that thought was in the back of his mind. Helen had been angry at him and then she said those words. Those words changed everything. Helenus was awake when she walked inside of the room. He was a little groggy and his head was swimming but he had a huge smile on his face.

Cassandra smiled to see her brother looking so happy, momentarily forgetting her anger. She walked over to him and brushed his hair off of his forehead, bending down and whispering, "Helenus, you're ok..."

Cassandra trailed off as she pressed her forehead to his shoulder, breathing deeply to try to calm herself. The panic was over, he was ok. "Don't do this to me again. You know my curse....you know I wouldn't lie to you."

"Cassandra.." He squinted his eyes a couple of times to see if it was really his sister or if the medication was blurring features and making him see things that weren't there. The smile on his face stayed when he saw it was his sister and he slipped an arm across her shoulder.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I know that I should listen to you but because of that damned curse, a part of me refuses to listen and finds a way to rationalize that you are wrong." The smile faltered for a moment and it turned into a frown but then it quickly faded away.

"I hate this curse. I hate that I can't protect people. Just...don't scare me like that again, ok?" Cassandra swallowed. "I'll kick your ass later-when you're better." She pulled back a little and brushed the side of his face with her palm before she climbed into the bed with him. She had to hold on to him, make sure he was ok and protect him.

After she was settled into the bed with her arms around Helenus, she asked, "What were you smiling about? Something good must have happened to make you so happy."

"I will do my best. I wasn't expecting to do this and yet something came over me." Helenus relaxed in his sister's presence and raised his other arm to give her a proper hug. Despite the accident, life was going in a positive direction for him. A week ago, Cassandra would have been a wreck and gotten herself into a craze. Now she was able to come and tell him off and take care of him if it was needed.

"Something did. I think you're going to be in for a surprise." He was quiet for some time before he reached for one of her hands and squeezed it. "Helen told me she loved me and I proposed to her. I don't know when and I don't know if we ever really will get married, but she took the ring and put it on."

"You had better try to do your best. I'll sic Apollo on you or something." Cassandra squeezed her arms around her brother and tightened her grip on his hand. She was being a bit possessive, sue her. "Don't make me wait to hear it!"

She started laughing at her brother's news. "Helenus! That's--that's amazing. I'm so happy for you." For all that Cassandra threatened Helen, she trusted her to take care of Helenus. The Greek had been faithful to her husbands when she was with them and she was loyal to Paris. The threats were more to show Helen that Cassandra was watching and cared about what happened than anything else.

"Thank you sister, it does my heart and spirit well to hear you say that." Part of Helenus was afraid that Cassandra might feel upset and even possessive over him. For most of their life, it had just been the two of them. Neither of them had any lovers until their late adulthood. Helen was the only lover he had ever had and Cassandra was forced to have a lover.

"She told me that..if any of her other husbands showed up. She would choose me..she would stay with me. Even if Paris showed up." There was a slight bitter edge to his voice that he was unable to disguise, though he never felt the same urge to repress himself around Cassandra like he did with everyone else.

"Just...don't leave me behind." She rested her head above his heart, content to hear it beat and to be able to curl up with him still. It would leave her very unhappy if she couldn''t have her time with her brother anymore. It was hard for her to let go, but not allowing him to be with Helen when it was something he clearly wanted would end badly for her.

"Paris doesn't deserve to come here." Cassandra began to pet Helenus's chest to soothe him. "He was useless. And...I think she is telling the truth. She chose you."

"You know I would never do such a thing. You and I have a bond that can never be broken, it is thicker than blood." Helenus shifted slightly so that it would be easier for his sister to curl up with him. The drugs were starting to make him feel woozy again, the nurse told him he would feel that way for another day or so.

"Helen is many things, she has her strengths and her flaws, but one of her flaws is not lying. When she says something like that, she means it." It had taken her a long time to tell him that she loved him. She didn't want to say it until she was sure. "Mmm, I am not sure how much longer I will be awake. Will you visit me again tomorrow?"

"I know. I just worry," Cassandra said. "I'm not used to people staying." Most people didn't want anything to do with her once they found out she was crazy. Not that she really blamed them, it was hard to put up with her when she was at her worst.

"Good. I trust her more now." She paused. "Would it bother you if I stayed with you? If it's more comfortable for you I can leave though." She put her weight on her elbows and looked down at him to press a kiss to his cheek.

"No, you're family so they will let you stay. The nurse will probably ask you to move but you can stay here as long as you like. Helen will be back soon too." He murmured a few other words to her but they were lost as sleep began to take over him. Within a minute or two, his eyes closed over and he fell asleep.

Cassandra hadn't been able to sleep the entire time since her vision. If someone came and told her to get out of the bed, she would deal with it then; for now she would remain in bed with her brother. She pulled the blanket up over both of them and curled back up against Helenus before falling asleep herself.
