My ex is in town for the weekend. So far, it's been going well. One thing I like about her visits is showing off the kids. They've been absolutely adorable. She's always impressed with how well they're doing. Frankly, so am I.
We rented a pedal boat and pedaled around a local lake for a bit. Robert had wanted to go fishing. Kelsey didn't. Both of them wanted to try out a pedal boat, though, so everyone was happy. One thing I like about my kids is that we can almost always find a compromise that works for everyone.
You'd think they'd be tired of lakes by now, but no. I think they'd live on the water if they could.
My ex's medication makes her sleep a lot. She went to bed at a bit after 8:00, and I'm sure she'll be asleep (except for a brief early-morning snack) until 10:00. I have to admit I'm glad. I don't really mind her visits, but I do find everything easier to deal with when she's asleep.
The other unusual thing we did today was withdraw my kids from day care. I'm not teaching now, so they don't need it. And Robert will be in school full-time this fall. My last class (that we have scheduled at the moment) is over at 2:00. I can pick them up myself at 3:15. I do have to be careful with my schedule, and I turned down a night class a few days ago. I really think this will work out, though. I'll have to do some work at home in the afternoons, but they can entertain themselves while I do that. We'll still be able to spend a lot of time together. I'm looking forward to it.
