‘I can’t believe I just said that’, Colby’s mouth ran away again, blurting something that he may not have even meant. Ian was going to kill him. It was a fact. ‘He’s not responding. OhmyGodI’mgonnadie! I’ll be his living target and he’ll bury me off this hiking trail.’
A minute later, with a small surprised laugh, Ian smiled. “We’ll see about that.” He paused a moment, smirking. “Race you to the car. Loser buys drinks!”
”Huh?” Colby looked confused as Ian started running the two miles back. Laughing as the standoff was broken, Colby ran, yelling, “Not going that easy!”
