For those hearing stories, I'm not in imminent danger, nor are any members of my family. My appartment is on relatively high ground, despite the proximity of Downfall Creek. Getting home from work this afternoon could be problematic, but there are many who are going to be much worse affected than me.
My sister-in-law's parents live in Towoomba, right in yesterday's maelstrom. They are fine, but the borrom floor of their house had water through it.
It has been surreal seeing just how much of the rest of the state has been affected. After two weeks of spectating this disaster flooding Queensland, now finally, it's Brisbane's turn.
I'm not worried for myself, but we are going to see some damage here in Brisbane and the lowest lying suburbs are already being evacuated. Ipswich is going to cop it, the Bremer River is rising rapidly. That nickname, the 'River City' is about to bite us.
