February 6th: Talk about musicals other than Les Miz.
daybreak777 Gladly! I love musicals. I love the musicals so much that I watched almost three seasons Glee, sitting through a lot of auto-tuned pop covers that weren't at all to my taste, just in the hopes of seeing them do a great showtune occasionally, usually courtesy of Lea Michele or Chris Colfer, Glee's two most talented young stars. Going to see musicals is still so expensive and exclusive (I'm still desperate to see Tim Minchin's Matilda but between tickets and travel to London it's not something that'll fit my budget anytime soon). It's pleasing when musicals become accessible through film and TV and horay for Buffy's Once More With Feeling, can't we have more things like that? Put simply, I love musicals but West End ticket prices mean I don't go to see them very often. *sigh*
I'll narrow down musical talking points to two. Firstly my favourite musical is Hedwig and the Angry Inch, a punk rock musical named after its lead character's botched sex changed operation. If you haven't seen it, well...it's a little different from Les Miz. But also, if you haven't seen it -DO. John Cameron Mitchell is stunning, the songs are stunning, the monologues are stunning, the wigs are stunning. Everything about this show/film is just the best. I recommend seeing it live if you can. It's pretty much a one man/woman show.

Secondly, my single favourite musical routine ever from Cabaret. I never ever get tired of listening to Sally Bowles singing Mein Herr and watching the Kit Kat Club Girls doing the chair dance. Also, the bowler hat number is my go-to outfit for all costume parties.
