Sherlock, Shameless and More Than This

Jan 12, 2014 23:14

Damn, it's my first actual LJ post this year. Happy 2014 flist!

And to start the new fandom year, may I join all Sherlock fans around the world in hysterically screaming......what the hell just happened?!! So now it seems like S3 was all a little competition between Sherlock and Moriarty over who could fake their own death in the most mysterious, elaborate and diabolical way. And while that's incredibly silly, Sherlock has never been more astonishing and entertaining than it has been this year. And "Did you miss me?" OMFG YES I DID!

So yes I completely loved all the fabulous nonsense of Sherlock S3. Like John unwittingly marrying a fugitive assassin and Sherlock convinces him that it's his fault because he's obviously got a thing for dangerous psycho types. Brilliant! Cos I loved the wedding episode and Sherlock's epic Best Man speech - "Let's play murder!" The humour has been first rate this season, highlights being John's stag night, Sherlock and Mycroft playing operation, there being an off-switch on the terrorist's bomb and all those crazy Sherlock!lives theories including Derren Brown and the fan service of Sherlock kissing Molly and Moriarty. My god...what will the Moriarty death theories be like? I guess that'll keep fans busy for the next two years or however long it'll take for new episodes. Maybe I'll make a Sherlock fanvid in the meantime.

Shameless is back too tonight...I'm looking forward to new Gallagher adventures and woah, when did Carl and Debbie become teenagers? I'm sure I'll enjoy the new season though I'm still in denial about Jimmy/Steve's weird off-screen "death" and I'm hoping it'll turn out to be a big Moriarty style fakeout. That said, there's a clip of Fiona getting arrested in the trailer and I'm worried that means they've found Jimmy's body and she's now under suspicion of his murder. Either way, I know I'm going to miss seeing Justin Chatwin's bum in the titles sequence. *sigh*

Golden Globes tonight too. Don't care who wins what except that Breaking Bad must win everything it's up for! Fingers crossed for Bryan, Aaron and Vince (well, everyone who created the show). Apparently Liev Schreiber has said in the press that if he wins Best TV Drama Actor he will go up on stage and insist on giving the award to Bryan Cranston instead. *nods approvingly*

What else? Oh, I'm finally getting around to reading Patrick Ness's new book More Than This. I haven't finished it yet but two thirds of the way through it's starting to grip me as much as the Chaos Walking books. I recommend! After that I'll finally get on to reading Neil Gaiman's Ocean at the End of the Lane. I'm finally reading again! It's been a while...

Oh and it is less than one week now till Blue Christmeth!
