Got the 18:03 from Paddington yesterday. It left about 5 minutes late, but that was no big problem. It then proceeded 5 minutes down the track and stopped. For 45 minutes. I couldn't hear the train manager but according to other passengers excuses ranging from signal failure to broken wheels were used. We then returned to Paddington, arriving back in at about 19:03. Half an hour of being stood at the platform with no-one telling us anything and the train moved off again. It moved forwards about 200 yards at a time and finally picked up speed at about Acton, when were were told that the reason for the delay was passengers forcing open the doors of a train ahead and getting onto the tracks (yeah right, that'll be why there was no mention of it on the news).
Got back into Reading at 20:41 - over 2 and a half hours after boarding the train. Oh, and I was stood in the carriage of death all of the way. My back started seizing up and I didn't want to try and find a seat after the second departure for fear it would lock completely and I wouldn't be able to get up. At least if I was already vertical I could be shuffled out of the door.
