So, to summarise, of the 11 journeys I have made into and out of London during this last week, I have managed to get a seat 7 times and been forced to stand 4 times. Chances of getting a seat do not seem to depend on the time of day, however two journeys from Paddington were seated because I was travelling late, or the train was delayed and passengers advised to take alternatives.
