Seungri looked down at his hands, unable to hide the small blush that was growing on his face. Everything about this moment was nerve wracking. Why did he have to do this? Why couldn't he just hide away in his small little office and ignore the world?
“Hey, Seungri! Sorry I couldn't be here when you came in.” Youngbae walked into his own office and smiled down at the other man. “Jiyong wanted to call out of work tomorrow, so we're getting all of his papers together so that he can slack. I never really realized how much that man does for us, you know?”
Seungri nodded his head slowly, trying terribly to keep his heart beat at a normal pace.
“Anyway, what can I do for you?” Youngbae sat at his desk and Seungri looked up to let his eyes wander the man's chest. The strong, expansive chest was covered with a business suit and Seungri wondered to himself if he would ever see what it looked like without clothes.
“Seunghyun and I got into a bet, do you remember Seunghyun?” Seungri asked.
“The man we met at the coffee shop?”
“Yeah. He's the one dating Jiyong right now.”
“Dating Jiyong?” Youngbae asked. “Are we talking about the same Jiyong that doesn't like other people? The very one that won't date anyone?”
“Yes?”
“Oh.”
Youngbae got quiet as he leaned back in his seat. His eyes seemed to wander off and Seungri bit his lip. He hoped this didn't hurt what little chance he had with the other.
“Well, Seunghyun and I got into a disagreement which ended in a promise. If he could go steady with Jiyong, then I would have to...” He stopped as he trailed off. Was saying it straight the best way? Just to get it all out? “I would have to tell you that I like you. A lot.” At Youngbae's confused look, Seungri pushed himself again. “This is a confession.”
Realization struck Youngbae and he nodded slowly in understanding, his face blank. Seconds went by, but to Seungri they felt like years. To hear Youngbae's next words felt like a lifetime. Finally, Youngbae seemed to bring himself out of his thoughts and he shook his head.
“I'm sorry, Seungri, but you know I'm not like that.”
It was a miracle that Seungri could respond clearly to Youngbae, but thinking back, he wouldn't remember anything. It was all in a haze and his body was numb to him. It was as if he was on autopilot and his body just knew what to do. He made it out of the office without injury, but Youngbae's last words were ringing in his head as he made it back home. Not even the specifics of the words made it through, but the idea that Youngbae didn't-no, couldn't-like him hurt.
With a heavy heart and a cold touch, Seungri went to sleep, hopeless and numb.
