Torchwood Children of Earth: another viewing

Did many, many trip-related errands today. Getting travel insurance at the bank, usually an easy procedure, became complicated because I am now 56 (who knew that was a magic number?) and I'll be away for more than 17 days. (That too.) Lunch was a delightful club sandwich at Jim's Cafe. I've been wanting a club sandwich ever since discussing them with
setos_puppy a week ago.

This evening I watched all five hours of Torchwood Children of Earth all at once with auriaephiala, and we had linguine alfredo for supper. I enjoyed the show, if possible, even more this time round: it was fraught, but the difficult bits were less so, and the writing still wonderful. I love the death of Ianto more every time I see it: moving, romantic, dramatic, and a fitting end for a Torchwood hero. A few quibbles came to mind - I'd have liked to see Jack have a more active role in the first half of Day Five - but that's only a quibble. A few random comments:
  • I found Johnson more interesting this time round.
  • I found Rhys funnier.
  • Once again, Steven and Alice broke my heart.
  • I love Johnny more on each viewing. I hope Gwen has the SUV now.

It was great to see it again.
