Torchwood: Barrowman and RTD talk at Comic Con...

Jul 26, 2009 20:10

Weeding out bits of Torchwood news from San Diego Comic Con...
  • "Russell T Davies says he is "still reeling" from the success of Children of Earth and says no-one at the BBC saw it coming." No? They advertised it pretty well. They were hoping. I'm sure they are very happy indeed. I haven't seen the ratings for the US - but it seems they were good.

  • "John Barrowman says he's trying to avoid double-entendres then advises the under 18s to "watch and learn" as he proceeds to flirt with Euros [Lyn]." Lucky Euros.

  • Russell T Davies: "I don't sit and think about an audience at all, I just sit and think about what makes me happy." I think that's the only way to write good material. The only way.

  • John Barrowman on being a bi role model: "I didn't get into the industry to be that, but it's happened. There comes a point where you have to look at yourself and ask if you can make a difference. But it's people like Julie and Russell that put this type of character on television. He represents who we are." I hope this means there are going to be more omnisexual characters on television.

  • John Barrowman: "Let's have more characters on television. And let's have more John Barrowman on television. I think I'd shake up a US network, don't you?" Sounds as if he wants to work in the State again.

  • "John Barrowman talks about changing the lyrics to 'The Wizard And I' to 'The Doctor And I' and doing it as a track on his next album." I hope he does! I love that.
