The End Is Getting Closer

Dec 20, 2008 20:46

Time is running out for us at work, we finally got a date for the store to finally close for good. We will be open through to the 5th of january and then that's it no more woolies. Some people were moaning that they wanted to hear the date for closure because they felt they were being left hanging and then after the manager told us they are still moaning that they haven't got a leaving date and can't seem to understand that every days notice we get from the administrators prior to our leaving comes off the money we will get because they can't give us much notice, for me that's 12 weeks money and I'd rather have 12 than say 10 or 8 because they gave long notice. Some people are never happy. *sigh*

We will still have work to do because anything that is left will have to be cleared up, all the fixtures and fitting will have to go as well. We have no idea how long that will take but probably no more than a couple of weeks at the very outside. We packed up the store once before when it was going to have a refit and it didn't take much longer than that and it was full then. I have no idea what happens to any stock that is left, lol maybe the administrators take it down to the market and have a stall!

Stock is still arriving but not in very big quantities (unless 5 million worth it toasters!) We will be among that last 200 stores to close. A sad day it will be.

I have no idea what I am going to do, they say that as one door closes another opens, I hope that's true I don't really want to be out of work for very long but at the same time I don't want to work as many hours as I do at present. I'll worry about that though after we get the final leaving date, in the mean time I'd better polish up my cv.

So royal mail are upset at plans to re organise them. About time I say, I took a parcel and some late christmas cards down to the local post office thinking that at least they'd be on their way even if they were a little late only to be told that they would take the stuff, I could pay the postage and then have it sit around in the sorting office until the monday after christmas. When I asked why this was I was told that they were concentrating on getting the internal (uk) mail delivered first. How pathetic is that? I asked if foriegn mail would be delivered and I was told that yes it would, so frankly I can't see the difference in getting it to the airport or from the airport myself. They obviously can't cope with the volume of mail. I thought that 99% of letter post is electronically sorted anyway. I am peed off because I really wanted to get this parcel to the person in question as she's only been waiting 2 years for me to get around to sending it. No wonder people are turning to other methods of sending their things. I will have to investigate an alternative too. And I feel a letter of complaint coming on to the post office.

Thanks to everyone who sent me cards they were all lovely and gratefully recieved. If I missed you somehow please please let me know, your card maybe one that is waiting with the post office. Thanks also to crowjane, your parcel arrived safely, thank you also for the stamps in your card. I hadn't seen them at all.

I had my hair done again today, I'm not sure if I like the colour or not but it does look quite nice, I thought that if I've got to go job hunting etc I'd better not have screaming red hair. :)

I've finished all my shopping for christmas, all I have to get is the turkey on christmas eve, it's all ordered but it's better stored in their freezer than in mine. I'm looking forward to having 4 days off this year, something that doesn't happen very often, I might spend it blotto! All that's left in doors to do is decorate the tree and finish wrapping the prezzies. Oh yes and keep the cat from climbing the tree like she did a few years ago.

And on that note I'm off, I doubt I'll be back on here before christmas so I'd like to wish everyone, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Holidays what ever your religion (or not) maybe. Happy Winter Solstice (my birthday yay!) to the Pagans and Druids around. I hope you all have a great time and may the New Year bring you all that you hope for!

woolworths, christmas
