Fire & Forget, and a note to my brain.

Jul 18, 2008 11:05

*phew* Good rehearsal last night - all of us seemed to be on pretty good form, and we've got two new songs and a new cover more or less nailed down now. We managed to get in the space of half an hour from "nobody but Oliver knows how this works" to "three of us can get the difficult part right and keep playing even if the randomly selected fourth one gets it wrong again," which is one of the more reassuring bits of any song's development and always excellent as progress goes. Also, our new song 655321 has a bass bridge in it! A proper bass bridge! Even a bass solo, you might say! I haven't had one of those since Promised Land. ^___^

However, since there's always something... due to personal circumstances, for the month of August Fire & Forget will be pulling a blanket over its head and having a bit of a snooze. I'll still be punting promo around the place and stuff, but we'll have to do without rehearsals (though in our current state, I reckon we'll be fine for a month).

Oh, and we're still possibly in need of a third band to play with us and Rome Burns in October. Cambridge people - can you think of anyone you want to see who you reckon would suit the bill, will fit in the Moon and won't cause my bank balance to explode horribly?

Meanwhile...

Dear brain,

Thank you, excellent work so far this morning. Very impressed with you for dealing so constructively with my asking you to boot up half an hour earlier than usual and get us into work for a meeting. Well done.

Also, if you were going to decide that for this morning's random dream what was really needed was a nonexistent and very arthouse director's cut of one of my favourite movies, you could certainly have done a lot worse than that weird remix of The Shadow you settled on. Especially the bit with Ying-Ko and the big guy whose name I didn't catch singing what sounded like Tibetan curses at each other through the mirror, I am totally saving that idea to use somewhere. Thank you.

And indeed, good work in the meeting, too. We sounded dead professional, I'm very impressed. If we can maintain this standard of performance until five this evening, I promise you movies and instant messenger later, okay?

Cheers,
Rath.
