I should probably cross-promote myself a bit...

Bloody hell, talk about too busy doing it to write about it... my life has gone a wee bit off the hook recently! But it occurs to me that I should update here with what I've actually been so busy with...

First of all I've been working on my little baby promotion company, Iron Lord Promotions aka ILP for short, which is busy trying to drag the Whitby metal scene up by its bootstraps. As I write, preparations are being made for the next show: Morpheus Rising and Crimson Dream on Friday 21/9/2012. I freely admit I've booked this one pretty much entirely off my own instincts, as I fell in love with Morpheus Rising the first time I heard them and while Crimson Dream are a very new band, something in my musical sixth sense is nonetheless saying "These guys are gonna go the distance." So I'm backing them now before everyone else gets in there - let's see what happens! ^_^

Meanwhile, though, I'm also being asked for my opinion a lot these days, as I've landed jobs as a reviewer at both Destructive Music online zine and Brutal As Hell horror movie site, the latter also home to hellbound_heart and maryanox! I'm loving writing for Destructive as it basically means I'm being paid in music just to say things about things, which is about as good as it can possibly get - I've got six reviews up already and have another eleven back-stacked here to write, it's awesome. At BAH meanwhile I haven't gotten anything up on the site yet, but I've got two screeners to review and I've also agreed to do an article celebrating the 15th anniversary of one of my all-time most loved movies Event Horizon, so that's pretty epic too.

...oh yeah, and somewhere in all that I believe my mission controllers at Black Library were saying they had some more proofreading for me. NO FREE TIME EVER AGAIN. Why do I do this to myself? *grin*

Laters,
Rath

PS Oh go on then, here's the full list of reviews I've done for Destructive so far, if anyone wants to see:

Midnight, Satanic Royalty [9/10, proper classic speed-black metal, HEAR THIS BAND! \m/]
Morbid Execution, Vulgar Darkness [8/10, kvlt and necro black metal, I really rather love these guys.]
Ravencult Morbid Blood [7/10, more kvlt and necro black metal, likeably low-fi.]
Cultes des Ghoules, Häxan [7/10, extremely nasty black metal, for the truly misanthropic only.]
Catch 22, Soulreaper: Evilution/Devilution [6/10, middle of the road power thrash, possibly good driving music.]
Catch 22, Monumetal [4/10, disappointing follow-up to the previous album, don't waste your time.]

There we go!

public service announcement, iron lord promotions, reviews, i love the world, excitement, destructive music, music, brutal as hell
