You and I are going to be commisserating a lot in the next two months, aren't we. *hug* Crazy people.
*makes note to go back and correct spelling of Palin's name in her post*
*quirks eyebrow* I've never seen any Obama ads or banners (probably because I live in "uncontested" blue New York), so I had no idea he referenced any biblical texts. That one might have made me curious, what with the obvious reference to the Got Milk commercials, but I don't know that I would have looked it up. Thanks for saving me the trouble. I think, however, it makes a point: either Obama or someone in his marketing team doesn't know the Bible as well as they think they do. That, or they don't think anyone will cross check them, which is silly as many Protestants I've known know their chapters and verses quite, quite well. (Haha, we Catholics just know the stories, not where they fall.)
And excellent point about the two-edged religion out of politics. Religion, whichever one it is, is usually a good indication of a person's morals. Like you said, it depends on how involved they are and how often they are in its environment. (I.e., a daily Mass Catholic will hear more Church view and moral stories than a Sunday Mass Catholic and significantly more than a Christmas/Easter or Paschali (Easter only) Catholic...)
For my part, I'll take Pentacostals over hate mongers any day... Though all denominations have their hate mongers and intolerants. I'll bet that whatever denomination Barak is is full of moderates and conservatives with just a few intolerants. Wonder what kind of church Palin's is... If we never hear, we'll know it's a decent one. Because a decent/tolerant one would not be newsworthy.
So you agree with me that politics has gotten worse over the past 10 years or so?
LOL... I looked it up because I remembered the sermon a couple weeks ago about the Talents. I don't know scripture like I should...
I think if what I read the other day was correct that Palin is a member of a nondenominational evangelical church.
And politics took a speedy turn for the worse with the aftermath of the Gore/Bush elections. Because the Bush/Kerry elections were really nasty.
I don't have a problem with the Pentecostals... Of course I am one that sees all denominations as having some flaws... as long as the Bible is the centerpiece, and it's not contradicted..
*sigh* Whoever will win this I pray it's a landslide... or things will just get worse.
Nondenominational evangelical? Is such a thing possible? Wow... I learned something today!
Gore/Bush and the Florida chad hangups. Yes, that was the exploding point, wasn't it? It was a bit ugly before that, but not as bad as it is now and mostly just in the media. Now it seems to be almost everywhere you turn. I think we should come up with a way to eliminate all the negativity in the country for a day. Hmmm...
*grimace* It won't be a landslide, though. The extremists are too evenly balanced and those of us in the middle don't really know which way to go. And thus, the whole country seems fairly balanced yet polarized. Been this way since Gore/Bush if not Bush/Clinton. Maybe that's why it's getting so negative... Each side can feel the win right at their fingertips and the competitive spirit goes into overdrive and they begin to thoughtlessly bash at one another much to the dismay of those of the rest of us. Hmmm...
I believe it's pentecostal without being under the covenant of the denomination. They are their own church body. (I.E. The Catholics ultimately answer to the Vatican, The Assembly of God has a council that sets precedents. The Southern Baptist has a covenant but outside of it they can do as they wish. Actually the A/G is set up similar to the Catholic Church from what I understand. It's not exact as the A/G doesn't have a Pope, but the council has a strong hand in deciding what pastor goes to what church, etc)
The Bush Gore was just insane... I don't think we will ever know the true out come there. There was too much scandal. And it wasn't just Florida, it was all over. Florida just had the hanging chad problem.
I'm wishing there was a third party with a chance of winning... If all the moderates were to vote for a moderate then the extremists would lose. But yeah... that's a wish that won't happen, I know.
