The explosion was spectacular. Buffy could feel it rock the earth from blocks away. The item stolen hadn’t been worth that much, comparatively, but to Buffy it was a signed invite from Parker and Hardison. They couldn’t have been more obvious if they had rented a blimp and had a flag flying behind it.

It was so obvious that Giles -who hadn’t been there- watched her worriedly and repeatedly emphasized Buffy’s importance to the group.

Buffy was torn. After all, Giles wasn’t lying; things ran smoother when she was around. On the other hand, it was rude not to RSVP.

Challenge #82: Stolen and freely given

Friendly moments with Willow were unnatural, as if they were time-zapped from better times. Every Xander comfortable moment didn’t fit into the Scoobie patterns they had made. Every comrade moment with Faith seemed stolen from that short time of ‘before.’ It didn’t fit.

Buffy didn’t fit.

Oh, Giles tried to smooth the rough edges, he tried to quilt the new Scoobies into the old, but Buffy could tell.

When she walked into the pub Parker and Hardison were waiting in, Hardison waved her over and Parker squealed. It seemed normal and free.

It was a gift of time well spent.

Parker’s idea of near, involved and happy often included something illegal. If Buffy was honest with herself, it always involved something illegal.

The unconditional nature of Parker’s emotions resembled Joyce Summers’. Buffy’s mother would never had considered breaking a law for fun, but she would have done a lot to see a smile on her daughter’s face.

Buffy had been too long without someone caring if she smiled.

Her decision was made for her

Title: I have Found It
Word Count: 100

Fandom: Leverage
Challenge #74: Lost and Found

It had been ages since Buffy had found cash in her newly washed jeans. It hadn’t been that long ago since she had found her keys in the refrigerator. It was her job to find the monster in the sewer, the boogey man in the hospital and the vamp in the graveyard.

So much of Buffy’s life was finding things (and things) that no one realized was lost.

Then Buffy found her own laughter. She heard her mouth say fun quips to Hardison. She found the beat dancing with Parker.

She found herself. She hadn’t even known she was lost.
