you know i can relate to your situation. last year, when i tried out, i felt a similar way. one day i would wake up really excited about acadeca and the next i could only talk about how much i hated it. eventually, the decision wasn't mine, because i chose to relinquish that control to someone else: my coach. and though she really wanted me on the team, she knew for the good of the team she needed to choose someone over me. but i stuck around. i stuck around because i wanted to see what the good attributes of the experience were. i had seen my brother go through the sleepless nights of studying for years, and i wanted to know why he did it all. so last year i became the unofficial mascot of our team. but i mean as official as an unofficial mascot can be. i got a jacket, i stayed afterschool, i came in on weekends, i sat with the team at every ceremony, every test day, i went to state with the team. and the experience left me with more memories than i can express. more inside jokes than i can tell. and more friends and acquaintences than i can remember! this year im excited to do the work, to put in the effort, to give up my time, because really, this is 6 or 7 months out of the year. giving 7 months of my life for a lifetime of memories seems like a fair trade, no?
haha, you know i'm biased. do what your intuition tells you. really. listen to yourself, not everyone else. not me. forget about the grades, the college, the friends and family. do what you think is right for you. i'll support you no matter what. love, foram
foram thank you so much for the support.. it means the world to me.
unfortunately though, cleveland does it a little different than reseda. we have the aca deca class with around 20 people. then after scrimmage, they decide who will be on the competing team. so i wouldn't have even know if i would get to compete.
