So Alex and I just spent four days in LA. Neither of us can figure out why anyone wants to live there. It's mile upon mile of dirty little shops and run-down apartments. There's hardly any mountains and the smog makes it look like LA is in a perpetual fog bank

I disagree vehemently. I certainly haven't attempted to plan a wedding, but I've seen enough of what's out there to know it would be horribly easy to make a gaudy, ostentatious mess out of a wedding.

You're quite correct. It would be very easy to have a tacky wedding. I agree that a nicely planned, tastefully done wedding is vastly preferable to a tacky wedding. : )

That being said, I also think that most of that isn't the central issue. If the bride and groom are happy - that's the important part.

Alright, I'm a dork ... but we knew that already. : )
