I've been happily playing Gametap on my computer for the last year. I have a slower 16mb video card that doesn't run some of the more graphics intensive games. I simply avoid such games.
Yesterday, Gametap wouldn't let me download a new game. I called customer service and they told me that Gametap wouldn't work on a 16mb video card. I told them, yes it does, I've been doing it for the last year. I can run Uru Live on my computer if that gives you an idea of how much my video card is so not a problem. Apparantly the latest software patch makes it so that computers with below minimum specs cannot download games. I said what does it matter to them whether or not my computer is able to run the game? Either it will or it won't, there's no reason to prevent me from downloading a game because my computer shouldn't be able to run it. I'm paying for access to the server and they're not allowing me access. After going through two techies and a supervisor, all of whom told me they have no idea why Gametap works on my computer, they told me they don't support computers with my specifications and the only thing they can do for me is refund my account.
I've now been refunded for the last six months. I don't want to be refunded. I'd much rather have continued access to their service. I really enjoyed playing games on Gametap and my computer is perfectly capable of doing what I asked it to do. I am exceedingly disappointed in this ham-handed approach to technical support.
