Personality: The first thing any given person would notice about Azmaria is that she’s very submissive, particularly around people she doesn’t feel comfortable around. Around those kinds of people, she can barely even speak her mind, and second guesses herself frequently. It’s not difficult at all for her to become frightened or worried, and she also doubts herself extremely easily.
The reason for most of her self doubt is because Azmaria carries a curse with her: the curse of misfortune. Not only to her, but to everyone around her. She doesn’t think she’s worth value since she only hurts people, along with the abandonment issues that arose when none of her adoptive families wanted to keep her. She feels as though people are better off without her, thinking of herself as useless and a burden. Even though she possesses great powers that can be used to help people, at first she’s afraid of these powers; afraid that she won’t be able to use them to the benefit of others, and afraid of failing people.
She doesn’t let herself become attached to people very easily, because most of the people she’s been with have left her. When she does form bonds, though, they tend to be extremely tight. She’s a cheerful girl under the right circumstances, although she doesn’t possess the confidence that’s necessary to keep her consistently happy. She’s shaken too much by people’s words; even when someone is pointing out a flaw so she can change it, she takes the criticism too seriously. This is, again, due to her poor image of herself.
Typically, once she’s made a friend, she cares a large amount about them, and would do nearly anything for them, even risk her life. Her friends make her happier than she could ever be alone, and she regards them as better than herself. She has a tendency to idolize certain individuals if they prove themselves to her, and even confesses that she wishes she could be like Rosette at one point in the manga. She’s happy just being around them, and she feels she’s lucky to have them, even though she isn’t as privileged as many other people. When someone is kind to her, she never takes it for granted, instead acting very thankful for everything she’s given. Even around friends, however, she’s still a very shy and quiet individual.
