Your mom said that to you? She discouraged you from writing? That REALLY upsets me. *Hugs* Don't hate yourself...we all like you!

You are one of the most brilliantly creative, inspiring and magical people that I have ever met. I think that your writing is one of the few things that can actually reveal the potential of your mind. I can understand your hesitancy about the implications of writing, but I don't think you should repress what is inside you.

P.S. We should hang out some time. (soon)

*hugs*

I don't pretend to know the context of all of this, but all those things you mentioned, including writing, aren't affectations. They really are a part of who you are. But you're right about not having to put on a personality to make people happy.

Sometimes obsessing is creative and sometimes it's destructive. Maybe you needed a little reality check. Or maybe not. I think not writing "ever" may be a little extreme.

No doubt your mother loves you and she worries maybe you are limiting yourself. I'm sure you have many talents.

*hugs* (Now please forgive me for writing when I have no idea what is really going on.)

Writing is hard, not because of grammer, message, or style but because it's an isolating art. Painters get to see the moment of realization on the faces of those looking at their work, musicans have fans, writers...well writers write and never see the outcome of it. We're writing for an audience we can't see, we'll never be in rooms of the people reading our books, we have to take time away from everything else just to write. It's not a pretty profession, but the art is beautiful, the finished product like a child, carried around for so many months and finally realised, someting so perfect we never believed could come from one so imperfect. At lest that is always how I've seen it. I understand the desire to burn out, to retire to be done with isolation ( ... )

Writting is a outlet that some people need to express themselves. Its not good to keep everything to yourself. I beilive writting doesn't cause problems, problemed people take up writting. That might not be your case. Without series of Unfortunate events, Handler would just be just some an unknow alcholic in a bar somewhere. and think how your writting makes those who read it feel, you might not see them read it but I bet they give you many compliments afterwards. Though I have never gotten a card from you so I have no personal experience about it. If you can't visit your friends which is the best, a card is the next best alternative.your writting isn't an embeleshment, it revels what you are at your core ( ... )
