benchilada opened the present I made him! Check out the cute video and pics over at his
journal.
The basic story- I made Ben an action figure of his character Sir Reginald.
The less basic- It's really hard to find a nice suit in the 1:6 scale. After a long search I settled on a collectors Henry Higgins Ken doll and stripped him.
The figure is custom built with grippy hands for holding beers and the best looking head I could find.
The accessories are either made by me or collected from the many many 1:6 hobby sites I became intimate with over the building process.
The box caused the biggest delay. I have some skills from art school but I hadn't made a box in a while. The structure turned out really well. The bummer part is the cover. I spent approximately forever making the art for it but didn't really think about getting it from the computer to the box. My best option was to print it out at work which meant printing on thin and glossy paper. The paper just sucked to glue and got all bubbly and would tear and mark.
All in all it turned out pretty awesome and he likes it. I sent Sara a scarf too and she looks adorable in it (of course).
I swear I am not obsessed with Ben, I just really like him. Don't get the wrong idea.
Last night Will and I started filming a movie starring the two new robots in our collection. I'm not a very good remote control operator. Will's awesome.
