I am waiting for my camera battery to charge to do jewelry videos today. I planned on charging it last night but forgot so I thought it a good time to write an update.
Not much new. I have the back-to-school stomach sick feeling. It's really odd! I am 55 years old and I STILL get this feeling when September hits. Pfft. I did, however, book my first gig of the year - end of September which is surprising but welcome! It's a long day with one of my "regular" ateliers so yay, money.
The apartment game still carries on and will until when the algorithm decides to say yes to us. So, I won't keep boring all of you with repetitive news on that front and will let you know when we DO have some real news there.
More relief, in terms of money - if some of you remember, one of my regular schools made a big oops and overpaid me by a lot for June and July. Basically, they hired a new accountant who paid me by session rate per hour instead of per session...so, yeah, big mistake but I somehow didn't realize it until it was in my account and automatically taken out for bills. As they are a regular employer, I wasn't going to keep quiet about it so I wrote them and told them what happened. To stay honest and frankly, it was their mistake anyway. Still, I mentioned that I was in no position to be able to pay them back the overage. I was told, back then by the secretary not to worry about it for the moment and that they will contact me end of August. Well, I was worried because I thought that if they wanted that money back, I would basically have to work free this year for them. Well, I got the call Monday and they said, not to worry. It was their mistake and it's done so that is that and just confirmed with me that the rate is per session and not by hour...uh, duh, I am the one that told them that! Anyway, it's a huge relief. The other "relief" is that I will be getting some pennies from unemployment this month, naturally because I didn't work! On Sunday, I am supposed to re-new the other government financial aid that I did not receive this summer because of the month of May where Gilles and I made too much money (sigh). Anyway, this time, we should get something....
On a different topic - many of you may not know that I like playing video games. I am not a gamer, so to speak but I do enjoy playing some to help me relax after I work from home during the day. In fact, just to give you an idea of how I organize my home days - 3 times a week, I try to go for my 45-minute walk through the local nature trail. Then, I work from 10-5 either on my photography or my jewelry either on an administration side or creating (and yeah, spending time online as well - heehee). I always have kept to this schedule since I graduated from uni because of the fact that I don't go to work every day. In New York, though, it was not my jewelry but either my photography or other art making (drawing, painting...) I mean, I may not sell a lot of my artwork but I am an artist in that I work every day on a project.
Anyway, after my day's work, I like to play something. It was Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom for the past 4 years or so...Animal Crossing as well - so yeah big Nintendo fan but I recently began a platform game called
Rayman Legends....it's not a new game and if anyone here understands how platform games work - reeeeeally frustratng but super fun and adorable so it's work the frustration ;)
As for watching stuff - we have 2 platforms - Netflix and Amazon and I want to die from boredom...there is NOTHING worth watching anymore. First, call me grumpy but WHY WHY WHY doesn't Netflix offer OLD movies from all eras?? It's not always a licensing issue, I am sure....I love Woody Allen so I would have to either PAY to see those movies on Amazon or they do not exist on Netflix. Same with Mel Brooks...I suppose at some point, I could re-buy the DVDs but who has money for that when we pay well enough for the platforms? Meh....
OK, back to work now but what I am listening to at the moment. Yeah, yeah, we know that Jason Bonham wanted to emulate his father's drumming style and create a band that oddly sounds just like Led Zeppelin (at least at the start) and why not? He has nothing to apologize for.
