What: Luke finally screws up the nerve to tell River how he feels about her. Yeah, totally junior high gone terribly wrong. But then, ALL junior high is terribly wrong.
Rating: PG-13, probably?

"No problem. I'm actually getting pretty nimble with this thing," he said, tapping his cast with his crutch. He hobbled deftly aside to let her through the door.

There was a heavy tension between them as they walked down to the street. Fortunately it wasn't a long walk, as there was a small pub just a block over that the Tales frequented. It was a little dark and close, but it fit the mood.

Why do I feel like I'm walking to an execution? he thought as he held the door open for her.

Luke chatted half-heartedly about staying with Jonas, but the attempt at a conversation warm-up was short lived. He finally rubbed his temple and said "Look, the thing is - well, I think you know I been wanting to talk about ... us. This thing we got going between us. Which is awesome, mind you." He faltered; maybe he could start with an inquiry, rather than a demand. "Are you ... happy with how things are now?"
