May was more than happy. Beaker and Bunsen had made up, and were hanging out together like they used to. That was how it should be. They were friends, and they shouldn't be separated. They just had to work out their differences, and May had gotten to assist in that. Though most of it came down to 'WILL YOU JUST TELL HIM HOW YOU FEEL IN REGULAR TALK AND NOT SCIENTIFIC MUMBO JUMBO?' And that was sort of when it hit May. That was exactly what she needed to do. Not that she could. After all, that revelation had come to her probably forty times over in the past decade or so. But did she ever? No. They weren't supposed to be like that. She had learned to live with it. It didn't matter how she felt, Kilroy would always see her as the March Hare. The male March Hare. The one that abandoned him, and there was nothing May could do to change that. She had tried, in her own small ways, but at least she still had him as her friend. That was good enough for her. He was still there that way ( ... )

The debate went on in her mind, and as the song ended, she was absolutely sure of what she was going to do. It would be a mistake, more than likely; a sober, sober mistake. But, it would be good for the performance. Not to mention that it would get the nagging feeling out of the back of her head. It would be over with, and maybe she'd get over him. Or it will just make it that much worse, May... Fie on her conscience ( ... )

The real problem here was that Kilroy was sober. He had a no drugs/too much booze policy around the muppets. Sure, he could pretend up and down that he was on something, but there was a clear look in his eyes that was unmistakable. He was in the middle of putting his Sinatra hat back on when she walked up to him ( ... )

May was shocked when his hands touched her face, and even more so when she realized that he was kissing her back. Yep, that was only going to make matters worse. Maybe in the lighting he thought she was Paisley? But she pushed that thought out of her mind for another second, allowing herself to give in and enjoy the moment that she had thought about for so very, very long ( ... )

"Oh god," he said under his breath and turned from her to try and recover. Fozzie gave him a slightly confused look and Kilroy realized that the bear was not the muppet to talk to about women troubles. Gonzo, maybe. But Kermit, Kermit understood.

"Y-yeah. You didn't have to get me anything." Kilroy's hand went to the back of his neck where her fingers were and rubbed it like she had dug claws in before releasing. He was luckily a little distracted by some of the muppets who came up to congratulate his performance. A few of them asking if he would perform another song, maybe a Christmas one. Kilroy told them he'd be happy to. Anything to give him an excuse to keep more than a couple feet away from May.

He trailed after her though, trotting a little to catch up. His hand now on his hat, head down like they were about to walk through a tornado.
