Before I begin my day, I guess an update is long overdue. My last real update was a week ago - geez that must mean I'm getting busy.
Ok - let's start with Saturday, the 24th.
We had to go to Michael's annual family reunion (The Duffy Reunion). These would be the folks on Michael's mom's side of the family. It was wonderful as always even though it was mostly indoors due to the inclement weather. All of the kids had a blast and we made the best of things. We have a shot of the family all together in the living room and I must apologize for the terrible pic, but since Michael didn't take it, you know how it goes.
Moving on to Sunday, the 25th - Breakfast with .netters and Celtic Fling
We had made plans a while ago that we should all meet for breakfast before Celtic Fling since it would have been a while since a bunch of us had gotten together the last time. (Did that sentence make any sense?) Anyway, we met at Kreider's Restaurant which has a very nice breakfast buffet. There would be about 20 or so folks coming to this breakfast. Much to my surprise when we arrived, I found that it was a surprise baby shower for me! *cries* I was so touched and had no clue that that was what this was all about. It was a good time and Aurora got tons of nice gifties! Just a mere 7 weeks to go until she's here! I can't wait.
After breakfast we all go to Celtic Fling even though the weather looked pretty bad. We got there just as it starts raining...again. So Michael decides to leave his camera stuff in the car and not bring it out in the foul weather. Good idea. I just wish I would have brought my small camera 'cuz I could care less if that one got dripped on a bit. We missed some great photo ops. Oh well. The day was great despite all the rainfall. We met up with so many friends we haven't seen in like FOREVER and caught a few of our favorite acts. Pics? We did manage to get some during a lull...go
HERE to check them out. The pictures start with the breakfast/baby shower and those are kinda dark because of the lighting in that place. Anyway, Celtic Fling closed early because of the torrential downpours and we were outta' there by 7:30pm. A blessing in disguise that was because until after we went to dinner it was still 10pm or so until we got home.
Nothing since then has been newsworthy really. I felt as though I should be building an ark this week though with all the rain. *UGH* Wednesday was to be my baby shower (a non-surprise one obviously) thrown for me by my co-workers, but that got cancelled due to all the flooding in our area. Surprisingly that was the first day of sunshine but Michael was explaining to me that due to the water run-off, etc. everything was flooding since the grounds are saturated to capacity, blah blah blah. I'm really not all that smart when it comes to science...LMAO...I used to be but I guess I'm feeling the longterm effects that doing drugs can do to a person. Who knows? But, I digress. Well, since we cancelled on Wednesday, the gals in the office thought it would be fitting to just have the shower during work on Thursday since I'll be leaving for vacation and then some of the other gals will be gone when I get back for their vacations. It made sense.
My one co-worker, Michele, even made a dietetic dessert for me that I enjoyed immensely! It was made with strawberries and jello and pudding - all sugarfree!! Even the Cool Whip was fat-free with hardly anything in it at all. What a treat! I got some great gifts and now between the two showers I can get the changing table I want from Babies R Us. When I had Ariel I didn't have a changing table per se. I had used the Graco Pack 'N Play system which has a changing table with it. I knew this time around that a proper changing table would be a MUST HAVE purchase. YAY! I'm so thrilled. The girls really got Aurora some nice things and I got some necessities too, like Dreft detergent (huge bottle) and wipes. Those things really help. Pics? Sure, we snuck some pics in there too...Click on the following teaser pic to take you to the rest of them. There aren't that many.
Ah and today...I'm officially on vacation! HOORAY! We're going to the beach house again this year in Ocean City, NJ! I have much to get done today but I thought since I'll be gone for over a week that I should at least update before I go. I have to make myself some breakfast and then I'm out the door to go shopping for a maternity swimsuit...which I didn't have any luck last time so I'll probably just end up buying some maternity shorts and tank tops. Works for me! After I'm done shopping it's packing packing packing and more packing! Oh and I have tons of laundry to do too. But at least the kid is at daycare and Michael is at work umm... he's back home. Michael is having some issues today with his stomach. I'm worried. My hubby never EVER gets sick and he's the kinda' sick right now where he's hugging the porcelain throne with all his might. Poor thing. He came back home to try to sleep it off before going into work for a half day in the afternoon. He's such a dear though because he tells me, "Don't let me stop you from doing what you need to do today. Just ignore me." Yeah ok, like I can do that? I'm concerned because he looks so pale. I'm glad we're going away. We all need the respite.
Oh in other unrelated news...we lost another groundhog...this time it was the highway. Yes one of our groundhogs is now roadkill by our mailboxes. Poor thing. That leaves one groundhog left if we're lucky. I'm just hoping that one survived all the rain and didn't drown or something. *sniffles* I love our groundhogs and it would sadden me to not see anymore of them around. I know they are pests but I love them still. R.I.P. Groundhog #2. I hope it was a quick death.
Toodles to you all. I'll post about our vacation next week - perhaps late Sunday. Buh-bye!
