Part One -- Oberlin Auditions

Last night, I had auditions for my summer job at the MAD* Factory.  Our summer musical is "The Butler Did It, Singing."  There were 10 of us at auditions, ranging from 12 through 23, and about five people from the night before.  We found out that most of us were counselors and a lot of us had never worked at MAD* before.  I quickly made friends with a brother and sister (whose names escape me) who are also going to be counselors.

The audition was simple enough.  A check-in and lots of fun warm-ups.  They taught us a verse of one of the chorus numbers.  Our audition was to sing the verse and then they asked us a few questions and gave us a script to look through.  They sent home anyone under the age of 18 and the rest of us were shuffled around to read for different parts.  They kept having me read, which made me feel good.  I kept reading for Laura, "the naive, yet fiesty" girl.  And, I took my risks.  The sister became Rick, my husband, for one reading.  She started massaging my ears and my back while I was reading, so I turned around and dipped her for a kiss.  It was a riot.

I should be getting a call later tonight...I'm really excited for this.  It's a great group of counselors and I can't wait to work with everyone.

Part Two -- Night with Lucian

Following my audition, I drove to Jon's house.  We finished watching the Cavs win and spent the rest of the night together.  I got to spend time with his sister, dad, and I held his stepsister Emma.  She's so adorable...just five months old.  We watched cartoons and went through his baby book together.  I feel so at home with his family.  His step-siblings are so much fun and I love Danielle.  Between Alex, Emma, and the pets (Sam the Dog and KittyBob), there is plenty of excitement.  It's so different than my house, where everyone retreats to their own hovel and enjoys their computer or TV for a good five hours.

Jon leaves for Colorado Friday morning and comes home on the 27th, two weeks from today.  While he spends his time with his family and getting drunk with his cousins (lol), we realized that he's going to miss my family's Memorial Day picnic and we won't be together for our one month anniversary.  Jon said that these two weeks are going to be the first real test.  We've been very fortunate...the longest we've been away from each other is two days.  I'm confident we can handle two weeks.

We have less than three months together until I head down to Disney.  My program doesn't start until the 13th, but we're leaving on the 7th so we can vacation for a week.  And then I'm gone for almost five months...and I still don't know what I'm going to do after the program is finished.

...

But, until the time comes, I'm looking forward to the rest of the summer.  Saving money to spend at Disney and at the ren faire this summer.  Good movies, time with my cousins and my friends, being outside, theatre...and him.
