Time for a critique

OK...here is my response to "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows."  And under a cut to prevent those who have yet to read the book from reading ahead.

Long story short...I loved it.  It was wonderful.  J.K. is so classy and the book was simply perfect.

It was nice to get them out of Hogwarts.  And a relief...because I probably would have spent my time thinking about Heidelberg.  All of the other books were go to class, sit in the common room, go searching for a scheme and repeat.  This one was off the beaten path...and it was wonderful because you got to interact with so many people you wouldn't normally see at Hogwarts.

I think that that was my favorite part of the book...the fact that J.K. brought everyone back for one great ending.  Every few pages someone would show up that you hadn't seen in years and it was so nice to be reunited with the whole family.  I really enjoyed Ollivander coming back and the goblins and Lee Jordan and Oliver Wood!!  Oh, that was so fun.  His name was mentioned once and I was thrilled.

Potterwatch was the coolest thing!  Lee Jordan as "River", Kingsley as "Royal" and Remus Lupin as "Romulus."  How cool!  It was so much fun.

Hunting the Horcruxes was fun.  I was constantly counting them off on my fingers to make sure I remembered them all.  Someone online has said that they thought that Harry was a Horcrux.  It was a minor shock, but kind of expecting.  My mom called Nagini being a Horcrux.

And then there is Harry.  Harry "dies" and Harry lives.  Everyone is happy.  hehe  And Sirius technically comes back, too, which was enjoyable.  I enjoyed seeing James and Lily return.  It was like a family effort.  And I somehow knew that Dumbledore would offer his wisdom...it happens in every book.

Guess what???  I got married!!  I finally married Lupin!  And we had a baby...an adorable little turquoise-haired baby.  I'm a mom!!

I really liked the scene between Lupin and Harry.  It was heart-wrenching, but I did enjoy it.  Poor Lupin...can't blame him being concerned, but I'm glad he came back home to me.

There were so many funny moments in this book...running first would be Molly Weasley yelling at Bellatrix, "STAY AWAY FROM MY DAUGHTER, BITCH!"  And the comment about Snape and the bottle of shampoo.  Ron had so many funny moments, it was a riot.  And yet he ran out on them...you...I couldn't forgive Ron for a while until he came back...like I assumed he would do.

The final battle was a blast.  The teachers...oh, the teachers!  McGonagal with the desk, Trewlaney chucking crystal balls, Sprout and the Mandrakes, Flitwick...oh, I loved it.

And now some final words for our dearly departed.

Hedwig, Mad-Eye, George's ear....Wormtail, Fred....Lupin and Tonks...Hagrid who had about three near-death experiences and somehow survived....

Snape....poor Snape.

My prediction going into this book was that Snape was under the Imperius Curse.  He didn't seem entirely evil to me, even after book 6.  Killing Dumbledore made me think otherwise, but after all of the little "Friend or Foe" papers that started to circulate, i started to think that he wasn't all evil.  (Kind of like when the magazines wrote articles about "what to tell your kid if Harry Potter dies".  They wouldn't write it if it wasn't going to happen, right?)  I feel bad that Snape had to die...but I loved the recollections.  All of it for the love of Lily Evans...how sweet.  it makes me feel terrible for what James did to Snape, but it was still mildly amusing.  (I was happy the Marauders came back again.)

All I could think about, though, after reading that was how pissed off Jes was going to be when she heard that Snape wasn't evil.

When Wormtail and Lupin died, my first thought was that the Marauders were all united again and it made me happy.  I'm glad that Wormtail had a pardon.  He didn't seem entirely evil either.  I sort of expected Lupin and Tonks.  After coming back and Tonks wanting to know where he was...at least they're (we're) together.

*sighs*  Cody, Ris...we're all dead.  *tear*

Then there's the epilogue...

HOW CUTE!!

Ron and Hermione FINALLY get together...it's about damn time!  And they have little Rose and Hugo.  (I have a feeling that Hermione did the naming.)

Then there is Draco and his wife (who I assume is Pansy) and little Scorpius.  How fitting for little Malfoy.  I'm happy that Malfoy didn't die.  He's still a pompous ass, but the "curt nod" was nice.

Professor Longbottom...how fitting.  And Kingsley would have been the best Minister beside Dumbledore.  I hope that McGonagal was Headmistress of Hogwarts.  She deserved it.

Little Teddy snogging Victorie.  I can only assume that that is Bill and Fleur's little girl.  It was, after all, a cousin.  I'd love to have the Lupin/Tonks family with the Weasley/Potter family.  Yay.

Then there is Harry and Ginny.  Yay for them getting together.  Little James and Lily...how cute.  Poor Ginny, though...she didn't have any say in naming these kids.

And poor, poor....Albus Severus Potter.  That poor boy...what a name.  So honorable...but what a name.

Cody, Ris...we need to have services.

deathly hallows, harry potter
