Amusing day at work today.
The store is now opening at 8am through the rest of the holiday season. Frankly, I'd rather open than close. We had a lovely onslaught today. I had a seven hour shift and no break (we were too busy). One lady bitched about why I couldn't give her $12 back in cash on her return, but had to give it to her on a merchandise credit card. "I don't mean to yell at you." (Well, you are.)
Then some man wanted nine giftcards. Our giftcard procedure is as follows: issue a new card (scan, enter dollar amount), place card in holder and write the amount on the holder, place holder in an envelope, place the envelope in a little bag about as big as the envelope, place the tissue paper inside the bag. (If you've ever seen "Love Actually" and the scene where Alan Rickman is waiting for Rowan Atkinson to gift wrap the necklace, it's kind of like that.) NINE TIMES!!!
After work, I dropped my purse into the toilet. Everything, including my pictures and paycheck, were soaked. I bought the sleep socks my mother wanter, her Christmas present (an oil warmer and two fragrances) and my $25 (normally $65) aspen getaway bag in bright red with fun little puff balls!
Isn't it adorable??
Anyway, then I drove to the ATM to deposit my check. The envelopes were stuck in the machine, so I tugged one out and ripped it a bit, but it was still going to work. As I placed my check in the envelope, I ripped the check in half. I sealed the envelope and shoved it in the damn ATM. So help me, it better clear.
Now I am home and fucking exhausted from being on my feet all morning. I am going out tonight and I am buying insoles for my boots. GOOD insoles. My mom asked, "What is it going to be like when you are working both jobs?" *sighs* Who knows. All I know is that I'm going to start bringing a book to the mall for my down hour.
Tonight I am going to see "Happy Feet" with Mike and we're going to Max & Erma's on cards from my mom.
And I'm back to work at 8am tomorrow.
*sighs again*
Happy Holidays!!
