CGW: Cast Gone Wild

Oct 16, 2006 06:22

Today was the final performance of the show...not a happy occasion by any means. 'Though the memories from the bonfire made me happy.

People were getting misty before the show even started. By the time we hit intermission, again, we were losing it. Tonight for Archie's letter, David G. and I poured out our hearts on that little piece of paper, telling Seth how amazing he was and how theatre wouldn't be the same without him. I saw him reading it backstage...he didn't say a word. He took the letter out on stage and couldn't completely crumble it. He moshed it a bit and tossed it off stage. "Where in the World" was wonderful...he was near tears himself. During "How Could I Ever Know?", Davey, David, Brady, and Emily were all crying. I was getting misty, too. Emily was trying so hard to hold back her tears during the final scene. When Seth, Lucy, and Brady went into their final hug, poor Brady lost it and was in full tears. Seth and I were the only ones who were really managing to hold our composure. When the scene was over, everyone was bawling backstage. Brady came out bowing with a bouquet of flowers. Lucy was perfectly fine until Brady gave her the flowers and then she couldn't hold it in anymore.

When the curtain went down, no one left the stage. It was a crying fest...everyone was hugging each other like we would never see each other again. You would have thought the world was coming to an end. Davey and Seth hugged for a good three minutes...I could hardly watch because it was just so emotional.

I went out to dinner with my mom, my grandma, my Aunt Lynn, and some of the cast. We ran into Seth and his family and Casie and her family there, too. Jes and I came back to the room to study and doll up a bit before going to the cast social at nine.

I love this cast and crew so much...I want to keep hanging out with them forever.

We played "Never Have I Ever" and, when people broke out the alcohol, they played "Kings" with the card deck. I had never heard of that game before, but it was fun to watch. We played several rounds of "Truth or Dare" that were very interesting and memorable.

I will share one story...

Seth was dared to sing "What is this Feeling?" with me. Gotta love singing with a music major because the first thing he asked me was if I could take the low part. lol We eventually settled on my playing Elphaba and him as Glinda. I was trying to get into it from the beginning and Seth was standing like a statue. We finally get to the "loathing...for your face, your voice, your clothing." I realized what Elphaba's line was in that sequence and I was going to take great pride in it. I stared Seth, one of the very best singers on campus...gorgeous voice, straight in the eye and put great emphasis on saying that I loathed "your voice." It took him a few seconds to catch it and react and then he really started acting up. By now, he is pointing at me and staring me down. He's flailing a bit and throws an angry hand at my face...kind of like slapping...and slaps me square on my hand...HARD. At this point, I'm laughing as I'm trying to sing this. A bit later, we were hands on hips arguing with each other. I was wearing a low cut shirt and he apparently saw something he wasn't comfortable with because he straighed right up instantly. Toward the end of the song, I'm clutching my fingers in pain. He comes over and makes sure that they're okay as we sing, "And I will be loathing, loathing you my whole life long."

...and I've got it all on video.

cast party, theatre, closing night, truth or dare, the secret garden, seth c, wicked, what is this feeling, loathing, college
