Y'know, I couldn't be happier that I upped my Theatre minor to a second major. I feel more accomplished when I write down or tell people that I'm a double major. And I'm so excited that I decided to look for a job in theatre education instead of just a job in education with theatre as a hobby. I'm actually excited about working in that field.
So, I think it's only natural to want to get involved as much as possible. During the school year, you have to drag me away from Gundlach with a hook.
During the summer, however...
I feel like a poor excuse for a theatre major because I'm doing nothing with it over the summer...and I hate it. I mean, granted, I'm going to be taking dance classes (preferably jazz) later this summer. More experience for the resume and good preparation for Disney in two years.
But aside from that...
One of my co-workers at Bath and Body Works is a musical theatre major and she's taking off work for a month and a half to take part in all of these plays, including "Cats" in Illinois. (She knows someone doing the WDWCP right now who is doubling as the Pink Ranger and Cinderella.) Anyway, she's leaving the state to do theatre. And Davey, my ray of sunshine, is up here at Cain Park for his second summer with his internship. He went to the other end of the state. Leslie did a summer intership at CATCO out of the city. And I just found out that Tony, who just graduated, got a job as the program coordinator at Playhouse Square. (How lucky.)
I mean, I really REALLY want to get involved with summer theatre. I'm just really nervous about it...and I really don't want to leave the main city. Am I a bad major that I'm not willing to leave Cleveland?
Ugh.
I need to call Horizons back. That job would be amazing.
...
In other news, I got in a "minor fender-bender" leaving work. Halle-fucking-lujah.
(Or, as Seth would say, fan-fucking-tastic.)
