This is driving me insane!

Don't ask me why this is suddenly bothering me so much, but it does. When I was young(er) there was this period in the late 80's when they showed quite a few Eastern European fantasy films on the telly. These films were beautifully made and simply magical, but I never saw again.

There's one of them that just stuck and it bothers me so much that there doesn't seem to be a trace of it.

Doe anyone have an idea where or how I can find the title of this movie?

I was still very young when I saw it, so it must have been somewhere in the late 80's when they showed it on television.
It was a fantasy-film.
It was foreign, and I'm pretty sure it was Eastern European, probably a (post-)Balkan country.
Now, I don't really remember the plot of the film, just images and scenes. This is the best I can make of it: The story takes place in a medieval fantasy sort of land. The protagonist is a guy who made shoes for a living, but he and his best friend were also inventors of sorts. I don't think the friend had a big part in the story, but I do remember he had invented a tin chicken that could lay eggs. Now, the shoemaker had made a set of wings that made him able to fly. At one point the protagonist flies unto the balcony of the local castle. There he meets a princess and I believe he gives her a set of red shoes. There's some sort of sub-plot with these shoes, but I don't remember which. I do remember her losing one of them and it showing up at a market. Anyways, the two of them fall in love, but I believe she's supposed to marry someone else. He leaves again and they get separated for a large part of the film. I also remember a scene in which the shoemaker is supposed to make new shoes for a goddess of some sorts in exchange for something (which I don't remember). There also was a scene where someone conjures wind (don't know who or why). The princess runs away in search for him, but gets caught by one of the bounty hunters her father had sent after her, and gets returned to the castle. At the end of the film the shoemaker makes a dramatic entrance by flying into the castle. I'm guessing this was when the princess is marrying the other guy. There is a happy ending. That's it.

Now, I know there's little chance I'll find this film again, but I really want to try. I'm just hoping the film didn't simply vanish into thin air.

Can anyone help with this?
