Do you have suggestions for changes (that would make meme easier to navigate or understand for nonnies old, new, or equine) to the text rules & links section of the header part of each post? Do you have recommendations for changes/updates/clarifications to the information we provide in the personal and rules posts ( Read more... )

A while ago, I read an article someone linked to on meme about the differences between US liberal and conservative households and values, and I would like to read it again. The article was either too early in meme's life to be on dememe, or I searched for it incorrectly. Google was not helpful. Could someone please help me? I believe the title was Red State, Blue State

Would this be it?

There's also the book "What's the Matter with Kansas" which discusses similar issues.

I think Nate Silver might have also done some statistical analysis on this. Not sure though.

Hi gentlefailers, this may be a bit tough, but I thought I'd throw it out there anyway and see if I get any bites.

I once saw a picture from a manga/anime/video game? that I'm hoping to find the source for. It showed two women on a horse that I think was brown/dark-colored. The woman in the saddle was very masculine (small chest, short dark hair, masculine-ish clothing, holding the reins, maybe wearing a helmet?) and the other woman (in girl #1's lap, sidesaddle, I think?) was much more feminine (long hair, maybe a dress?). The scenery was kind of rural/out in the country-ish, and I think the sky was orange/pink/sunset-ish, though I might be making that part up. It pinged me as GL in feel, but I'm not sure if it's actually yuri or just femmeslashy.

I know it's a long shot, but does anyone have the image/know what it's from?

I can't find the original horse picture, but might your two girls have been Oscar and Marie from Rose of Versailles?

Nope, not them, masculine lady definitely had short dark hair. Thanks for trying, though!

Thanks for trying, but nope. Much more modern than Tezuka.

I am looking for a pithy quote about reincarnation and the perfection of the self. Has anyone got one?

Re: Finding things thread...critiques of Edward Said anonymous April 6 2014, 22:32:30 UTC
I'm looking for critiques of Said's work that aren't ideologically driven. I'm reading some of his essays on music, and something about a couple of them rub me the wrong way, but I can't quite put my finger on why. And my (admittedly not very thorough) search for more critical responses to Said keeps turning up scholars who have an axe to grind with postcolonial studies/"leftist" academia, which is not what I'm looking for at all.

I'm looking for an album. I think the cover art was white with a black line drawing on it. It was done by a man and woman duo. The man was a rapper and the woman was a folk artist. I think she might have played the banjo. I think the album was released sometime after 2012. The first track was about laundromats/washing machine/laundry or something.

Does anyone know what the logo bumper sticker on the back of this car is from? I could swear I've seen it somewhere before, but I can't place it.
