I'd really, really love an exchange for rare anime/manga/game het pairings.

Also, a multifandom gen exchange. There used to be one some years ago, but as it's been inactive, I'd like to see a new one take its place.

DA is planning a multifandom gen exchange for this summer. It's come up a couple of times on meme - I promise it's coming!

I think it exists? Kind of. Not at AO3, as far as I can tell, but at LJ this kind of fest does exist.

I Need My Fics has no restrictions on fandom eligibility.

There's The Secret Coconut at stseiya_fanfics. They do have a list of featured fandoms and you need to be familiar with at least one of them to participate, but they let you submit requests for any fandom you want.

What would be the unifying principle? What would the format be?

Not a fest per se, but I wish Big Bangs would go back to their 40k+ or 50k+ format, instead of this 5k/10k/15k bullshit.

I tried to set mine up to be 40k, and got more people telling me that 40k was too much than I got people saying it was a good idea. :/

Aw, nonnie, at least you tried. I think people have forgotten that Big Bangs are Big Bang challenges: if someone thinks that 15k is challenging to write, maybe longfic challenges such as a Big Bang are not for them and they shouldn't sign up.

If you're going to do one again next year, you could consider a two-tiered system? Something like a 40k Big Bang and a 20k mini-Bang.

Yeah, I think depending on how this one goes, I may tweak some stuff next year. Maybe people who sign up for the Big Bang will get two artists assigned to them or something.

Then again, artists are ridiculously difficult to find these days, so maybe not.

You could ask the authors whether they even want an artist. I personally would be happy enough without one, because writing rather rare fandoms makes me cringe and feel bad when it comes to having to find an artist.
