World Cup Sleep Deprivation Diary - Day 31

Jul 10, 2006 18:07

So that's it then. The tournament ends on the crappiest game in the history of World Cup finals. Diving, overacting and cheating galore; skinhead behaviour by one Zinedine Zidane; and a penalty shootout. Totally unimpressed.

And to make matters worse, my reception was cutting in and out all match. Every couple of minutes the picture would freeze for a few seconds before coming good again. The picture behaved itself for the penalty shootout until...and I thought this only ever happened on really crap sitcoms (and I swear this is absolutely true)...it froze again AS THE FINAL PENALTY WAS ON ITS WAY TO THE NET! Literally milliseconds after the final Italian player kicked it, the picture froze for about ten seconds, leaving me hanging in utter disbelief. It wasn't until the picture was restored and I saw the Italian players dry humping each other that I knew it had gone in.

And so that brings an end to my sleep deprivation diary. I made it through 31 days of interrupted sleep, and managed to watch 30 games in full, and bits of a further 14.

Even more remarkably I've blogged for 31 days straight. Who woulda thunk it?

I need a lie down.
