So I've been doing some thinking about why I haven't been posting much lately. I have things to say and I miss contact with all of you, so why don't I post

People that do bird rescue are dedicated if not slightly insane people. I took in a cockatoo once for someone during a divorce battle, and had to give him back after two days. My sister was 11 years old at the time and has quite a scar on her arm where the bird bit her - her fault, but still a painful lesson. We spent that night in the ER getting stitched up, then I had to explain it to our parents! (I was 22).
This bird is 20+ years old, one owner and well cared for. He is allegedly not unusually destructive nor self destructive. I am not up for crazy birds, so the process will be that I meet this woman's husband (the bird's person). If we agree, I meet the bird on its territory. Then we try a weekend here at my house if the bird likes me, when they're home. If all that works out, we'd move up maybe to a macaw-sitting arrangement when they went on vacations (they are retiring). Eventually, the idea is he would live with me. At least that is the surface preliminaries. IT would all have to work out as planned.
This bird would never meet the other birds. He would need to get along with the dogs and cats, and I don't know if they have ever had other pets around him. Time will tell.... I am not jumping into anything on this one.
If I had my pick of the parrots, I would like an African Grey. They are smaller of course, and the best talkers. The only way I'd look at any larger parrot would be a circumstance like this one, where it is a sane, properly brought up and trained pet.
