So I've been doing some thinking about why I haven't been posting much lately. I have things to say and I miss contact with all of you, so why don't I post?
Well, sometimes I am just too tired. But I think since I locked down my journal, I feel somehow that if I'm going to make a locked post, it should be Important. You know, with a capital I. And really, most of what I have to say isn't important in the least!
So I've decided only to lock posts that might be sensitive. I am feeling physically and emotionally less vulnerable, now that I'm on more adequate doses of prednisone and pain control, so I suppose I feel a little more in control again, too.
So, without further ado, I would like to talk about some things I love (the word is used loosely here LOL). One thing I will warn you all about is that my friends say 'adequate pain control' makes me into a chatty cathy. You might all be telling me to shut up soon!
My new camera! A Nikon D5000 - it is still smart enough for the stupid side of me that needs all those auto settings, but it has enough new features that I can learn more about digital photography. All pictures from this day forward will be with the new camera (except the kittens...see way below...). I'm learning!
My new laptop! My work desktop died and my laptop was 4 years old and wouldn't run SQL server management tools well on Win 7, so we replaced both with a super laptop. Oh my, is it a nice Sony Vio. (drool, drool). I loves it.
My new steam mop! I got one of those shark things. A major improvement over a Swiffer Wet Jet. I am sort of a neat freak when I can be and I just like how clean it gets the floors.
Roses! I bought myself some, see below, and will be getting more this weekend. Every 2-3 weeks I'll be buying some, to get myself through this long cold winter.
My cloak and walking stick! I look pretty bad right now, all pudgy faced on prednisone, but I feel cool in my cloak and with my walking stick.
Ok, now for
:
Roses
I got these at Sam's Club - 26 roses for $20 - and wow, have they made me happy. I love the color. I am so tired of white and snow.
My big old sick buddy, Beorn.
I think we're getting his dosing regimen worked out, but he definitely has less energy than normal. He just turned 2 on Feb 1. It is so sad to see this huge gentle giant so sad looking at times. But he is more a mamma's boy than ever.
Nani and the new heated tile floor.
This is heavenly on your feet in a Minnesota winter. I love the look and I especially love the feel. And it is so easy to clean.
Cut glass fish scene.
I got this on my trip to San Francisco. I think he said they are made in Peru. I might need one for the window on the other side of the fireplace.
Nilmandra's elven cloak
For those who remember, I once went on a
vacation and ended up on
Tirimbrithla.. And for some reason, I couldn't take a picture of the cloak I found. The new camera seems able to 'see' it - how fortunate for me!
Green Wizard's staff
I got this somewhere in Half Moon Bay. It is so much easier on the arm than a cane. Everyone comments on it. Some guy at Walgreens even called it a 'staff like Gandalf's from LotR' which made me laugh. Exactly that is what it is. The green wizard's staff!
And of course, we need some
Kelly
This is Kelly, at 4 weeks and 1 pound! And no, I didn't keep her. She was a gift for my petsitter, whose cat died right before Christmas.
Grace
This one is smaller yet in this picture and what a character! They are both now home, running around like little maniacs and growing like crazy. And Jim loves them.
The lion King, Topaz
He just woke up. I thought he looked majestic here.
Jasper, aka the Itty Bitty Kitty, aka Gilligan
He has a goatee. I've been trying forever to get a good shot of him, so that shows. The picture doesn't give a good scale of him, as he is tiny.
Jasper and Topaz
I got them as kittens together - they were born within a week of each other. Here they are wrestling in a sunbeam. Topaz is at least twice the size of Jasper now and treats him so gently.
They've moved out of the sunlight, but this is still a fun picture...
You can see a little of the size difference now.
Aragorn and Arwen....
...are now Fred and George. They're both boys and personality wise, they are a couple of pranksters. Always up to mischief.
