No Mercy by Sherrilyn Kenyon

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

There's a lot going on in this series lately. It's a lot to keep up with now that I am not reading them one after another. Of course, it is also like 20 books or so worth of material and events. I had been waiting for a bit to see what would happen with Dev, because I was amused by his character. I still enjoyed the character, but it kind of fell a little flat for me. However, it did serve to further the overall plot more and that was interesting to recall/see where it was heading now.

I kinda just want one huge book for Nick like Ash got. Just to wrap everything up all nicely in a bow and explain it all to me. haha.

Sisters Red by Jackson Pearce

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I borrowed this from the library, because of the cover. I was expecting it to be a little more Snow White/Rose Red than Little Red Riding Hood, but I can't tell you *why* I thought that. One look inside the cover at the description would have confirmed that I was incorrect. A closer look at the cover should have even tipped me off, but I honestly didn't see the wolf's head at first. haha.

At the end of the book, I am curious to see this marked as "Sisters Red #1" as if there will be more along the same lines. It seemed like it came to a reasonable conclusion, but now I am going to do a little bit of digging...

Okay, it looks like it is just a name for a series of faerie tale retellings, because the second one is Hansel & Gretel-ish. Seems odd to lump them under "Sisters Red #whatever" then.

Back to the book itself:

It was interesting seeing the similarities between the sisters. The author seems to go out of their way to illustrate just how different the two girls are, but it also serves to make their similarities stand out even more clearly. On the flip side, they have both been shaped in very different ways by a brutal attack when they were both quite young.

Even though Rosie is not outwardly scarred like Scarlett, the attack cut her just as deeply. It is something that even Scarlett seems to overlook. There were some tense moments where the final outcome seemed certain and then changed back and forth.

A reasonably quick read that kept me entertained, curious, and reading until the very last page before I put it down.

How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf by Molly Harper

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Let's just say that I really like Molly Harper's writing. She has a way of making her heroines seem really familiar and like you literally *know* what they are going through. With her "Nice Girls" series, it was like looking into a mirror.

Well...the parts without the whole...being turned into a vampire thing.

While Mo's overly nosy hippie parents are not something I am personally familiar with, I did relate to her desire to just get away and start over somewhere else. I don't know that I would go as far as Alaska, but I did go as far as Fargo.

Six of one, half dozen of the other?

That said, this proved to be another fun and funny romance. I've already gotten the second in this series on its way to my house, and can't wait to read it.

If you're looking for a bit of romance that also makes you laugh out loud, I'd definitely suggest giving either of Molly Harper's series a try.

River Marked by Patricia Briggs

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoy the Mercedes Thompson books. This is the 6th book in the series and it kind of takes a step away from the world you've gotten familiar with over the last five books.

Adam and Mercy are alone on a honeymoon of sorts, and (of course) end up running into trouble.

We also learn a lot more about Mercy's origins through the new characters that they interact with.

I definitely didn't spend much time when reading this where it wasn't in my hands, but I will be glad to get back to the familiar with #7. Hopefully with some Stefan since he seemed to be showing up a little more on the fringes of this one. How can you not want to see more of a vampire who owns a van painted like the Mystery Machine from Scooby Doo? I mean really.

If you like the genre and haven't started this series...why? Get on it.
