"Your reign of terror is over. Mine has just begun."

Random MySpace message received today: "you know what pua stands for?"

Reaction: "As a matter of fact, I do, and it HAPPENS to by my NAME. Get your head out of your ass and try looking above the neckline for once in your pitiful existence."

Did not actually send that, however great the temptation. Dickhead.

After much deliberation, I have decided that I desire to change my username. I have not yet determined when I shall institute said alteration, but be forewarned that one day not too distant, this journal shall cease to be known as "faeriemere".

Disclaimer: The following narrative is ridiculous. I am tired, and it amused me to write it so.

I had a most(ly) pleasant weekend. On Thursday, Mer and I had dinner at Capital City Brewing Company, where she inducted me into the ways of sitting at bars and chatting up random strangers. Or being chatted up by random strangers. 'Twas most amusing, and we did get two free beers apiece out of the endeavor. Should I ever again be in company with a socially apt young lady who is not averse to alcohol (because such people are SO RARE among my friends), I may conduct further experiments on the subject.

On Friday, we slept in to the sound of pouring rain and upon waking determined that it was a perfect day to have lunch at Teaism. We put action to our words, and lunch was, of course, perfect. I then proceeded to my recruiting station (on the way to which I became most pleasantly sodden) and ran through mock interviews a couple times. My recruiter says that he already sees a vast improvement. After a couple hours of that, we called it quits, and I went to meet Mer and head home. Following a couple hours' repose, we met Jeff and Heather for dinner at Zengo, a trendy Asian-Latin American fusion restaurant in Chinatown. It was entertaining, if noisy. Heather played the birthday card, to my mild annoyance, but the requisite dessert was churros and chocolate mousse - tasty, light, and easy to share. After dinner, we moved to Tryst for coffee, got soaked on the way home, and retired, exhausted, but not terribly unhappy.

Saturday began with rain. Jeff, Heather, and I went for a run. Mer felt ill and slept in. The run was exhilarating, if wet. We stopped at Firehook and Starbucks for pastries and coffee, after which I returned to Mer. After breakfast, we visited the zoo, including several of the animal houses, which I had not yet seen. The walk tired us considerably, and we were scheduled to dine once more with Jeff and Heather that evening. Desirous of being amiable companions, we chose to rest briefly before dinner. We congregated at Rock Bottom Brewery, where we enjoyed a hearty, all-American meal in the most comfortable of environs. Again, Heather insisted on noting the momentous occasion, and again, our distended stomachs compelled us to share the one obligatory dessert. Despite the overabundance of food (or possibly because of it), the repast was enjoyed by all. We concluded the evening by returning to my abode to watch The Italian Job.

On Sunday, Sunday school was cancelled, so there was no need to begin the morning before church started at eleven. The sermon was unusually thought-provoking (not a bad thing), lunch at Cactus was unaccustomedly small (only five), and we indulged in sopapillas in honour of the interminable occasion. Rendered nigh-comatose by the weekend's ceaseless eating, we retired to Jeff and Heather's apartment to look at their Israel pictures. About six hundred photos into it, Jeff finally noted that it contains over seven hundred photos. I had already seen all nine hundred-odd (before they were trimmed down to the current number), so I was at luxury to laugh at Mer's and James' reactions. After the slide show, Jeff and James decided that it was time to blow things up, while Heather, Mer, and I discussed the merits of chocolate fondue. In the end, chocolate fondue was deemed an excellent thing, so we abandoned the males to their arcane bonding rituals and partook of our own. The chocolate was lovely (dark with Bailey's) and curative, and then we walked to Teaism for a light, savoury snack. After two hours' conversation, we all realized that it was getting late and parted ways.

Mer and I watched movies while she packed, and she flew out on the first flight Monday morning. On the whole, I vastly enjoyed having her to visit, and I'm sorry she's gone. Anyone else want to come visit me?
